Kamakshi and Vishala Khurana The Sound Space is Kamakshi and Vishala Khurana’s labor of love, deeply rooted in their musical childhood. Having grown up in an environment suffused with music, sound has always been an integral part of their lives. This led them to complete their Visharad degrees from the Lucknow University, along with degrees in Psychology. This unique fusion enabled them to understand the human mind and use their musical knowledge to mould it. This went on to becoming the inspiration behind The Sound Space. Through this organization, the Khurana sisters are paving the future for Indian music, not only in India but also globally.

This harmonious duo strongly believes in bringing music to the lives of many through the education sector, healthcare institutions and corporations. To this end they have developed and continue to create research modules, programmes, interactive sessions and performance based interactive programmes. With an aim to deconstruct the complexities of Indian music and use it to offer an enhanced life to children, they are today working hand-in-hand with various schools such as Ascend International School, Bombay International School, The Cathedral and John Connon School and the JBCN International School, amongst many others. They have also conducted lecture demonstrations for reputed institutions like Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Indian Merchant’s Chamber, Rotaract Club and many more. We find our roots in the traditions of Indian music and blend them with latest research in the field of music to create a unique model of learning that is both, time-honoured & progressive. For this purpose, The Sound Space designs and executes specialized curriculums for IB, CBSE, ICSE schools in a manner that is easy to adapt into the existing academia and philosophy of these institutions. The curriculums are a healthy mix of research-based techniques and musical activities that impact children’s cognitive and learning abilities directly as well as train teachers to introduce elements of music throughout their teaching process for better results. Musical curriculums and workshops are also designed for children and adults at various NGOs and municipal schools such as Family Welfare Agency, Seva Sadan, Mumbai Mobile Creches, St. Jude Childcare Center and many more as part of our initiative to give back to the society.
