ServicesSKILLS DEVELOPMENTAgri-IQ believes that by empowering small scale farmers we are providing a platform for their sustainabledevelopment in agriculture.To achieve this we have developed a broad spectrum of modulated programmes and short courses for trainingthe farmers. Our training material is designed around real world situations that farmers and farming employeesexperience and ensures that the learning is relevant and immediately useful.Our training techniques and activity tools are interactive and allow an element of fun whilst learning takes place.We apply innovative techniques to test knowledge uptake as part of the monitoring and evaluation process. “Agri-IQ helps us to understand that working together gives us strength and the opportunity for doing good agricultural business”GOVERNANCE TRAINING TO BUILD CAPACITY FOR SMALL GROWER CO-OPERATIVES AND ASSOCIATIONSSmall scale growers are finding that their biggest challenge is in managing the governance aspect of theirbusiness institutions.Agri-IQ has developed a cutting edge up-skilling programme that is used to strengthen governance knowledgein small grower farming institutions. The Programme uses unique and interactive training activities to transferskills and knowledge. The training includes corporate compliance, leadership responsibilities, the membershipresponsibilities and ethical decision making.Through ongoing facilitation the Programme enables the institutions to operationalise their constitutions andrun their business effectively.Monitoring and evaluation of the capacity building is the cornerstone of the Programme and allows theinstitutions to become empowered to manage and drive their business.FARM MANAGEMENT AND CONSULTING SERVICESWith our extensive agricultural knowledge and technical farming experience, Agri-IQ provides farm managementand consulting services for a wide range of farming projects in Africa. These projects include commercial farmingenterprises and small scale grower institutions.We have the necessary business expertise, technical and operational experience to offer sound farm managementguidance and consulting assistance. PRODUCTION COMPLIANCE AND MARKET LINKAGEAgri-IQ understands market demands, the logistic trade chain and is proficient in the productrequirements for local and export retailers. We guide farmers on being market led and notproduction driven which results in best value return to the farmer or small-scale farming institution.In order for a farming enterprise to gain entry to high value export markets, certain international compliancestandards are required.We are able to provide training on applicable standards and the provision of the required documentation.This includes the implementation or risk assessments, policies, procedures, standards and record forms.Coupled with training, this will assure audit compliance to the following International Standards: GLOBALG.A.P,Tesco Nurture, Ethical Trade - SIZA and Fairtrade.
CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT Agri-Wellness is a Non Profit Company, which promote accessible health services for agricultural communities. Agri- Wellness has established and operationalized facilities and community based Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) models to support ART patients in Deparment of Health facilities in the Komatipoort and Malalane area of Mpumalanga. ‘Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.’ -Benjamin FranklinKey Programmes TsGro Farming Services (Pty) Limited - South Africa. Agri-IQ has been appointed to provide Good Governance Training and Institutional Support to 24 Small Scale Grower (SSG) institutionswho are engaged in the growing of sugar cane and food crops. The specific objectives relating to this capacitybuilding project are to deliver a Leadership and Governance Training Programme and provide facilitation forthe SSG institutions.The geographical focus of the Project is in the greater Malalane and Komatipoort regions of the MpumalangaProvince of South Africa. The project is expected to reach approximately 850 people over a period of threeyears. This Programme will contribute to the sustainable development of the small-scale grower sector in theregion. Chemba Agricultural Project - Mozambique. The Chemba Agricultural Project centers on the development of agricultural infrastructure to produce high quality organic sugar cane for processing and food crops.Agri-IQ has been appointed as the Management Company for two outgrower Co-operatives; Co-operativeLambane and Co-operative Chapo. AGRI-IQ will manage the Co-operative Estates and develop technical skillswhilst delivering project sustainability.In preparation for the outgrower development, training was provided to the Co-operatives. The training includedgood governance principles, roles and responsibilities of all co-op members, business skills and the businessof farming.
Key Programmes Maragra Açúcar - Illovo Sugar, Mozambique. Agri-IQ worked with Maragra Açúcar to provide training services for a community outgrower project. Grower will develop 1540 ha of sugar cane to supply the Illovo Sugar Mill at Maragra. The communities will also be growing 460 ha of good cropsto ensure local food security.The training is based on a ‘train the trainer’ methodology and covers a wide curriculum from governance, businessplan development, business understanding and technical farm husbandry training. Solidaridad Network Southern Africa - Swalizand, Malawi and Tanzania. Solidaridad engaged with Agri-IQ to deliver training on the Solidaridad Sustainability Management Tool (SMT) to theSugar Extension Officers (Eo’s) across the Illovo Group. The Extension Officers are trained on the five SMT themesnamely, Corporate Governance, Economics, Health and Safety, Environment and Production principles. Ministry of Trade and Industry - Lesotho. Agri-IQ has delivered on-site good agricultural practices, GLOBALG.A.P. training, facilitation and the provision of documentation for co-operative farms in the Hlotse district of Lesotho. This has resulted in the GLOBALG.A.P. Certification of Turn to Eden Farm - the first farm in Lesotho to be GLOBALG.A.P. certified. Agri-IQ extended to working on a further three farms who are growing deciduous fruit for export who have all been GLOBALG.A.P. certified. The Lesotho Government and the World Bank suppport these farms. USAID - Farm Worker Wellness Programme - South Africa. Agri-IQ has developed and implemented a peer led wellness programme for agricultural workers on 37 farms in theMpumalanga Onderberg, reaching 5600 workers known as the Khanyisa Wellness Programme. Components ofthe training Programme include HIV/Aids, TB, cancer, gender awareness and ethical employment principles.Key Clients
