Hadley Middle School SepNteEmWbeSr-LOEcTtoTbEeRr 2018 Principal’s Message January - February 2019 Hadley Student Pledge As we make our way through the third quarter at Hadley, we ask our students and our I pledge kindness to my Hadley family to be a person who re- staff to stay focused and work hard as Spring will soon be here. Our teachers are not only spects and values you regard- less of your skin color, intellect, educational leaders, but are also lifelong learners, and have been attending and presenting interests, talents, or years. To- gether, we will work to achieve, a variety of professional development seminars . success and become positive Hadley Middle School provides students with a multitude of opportunities for success. By global citizens! maintaining an open line of communication between home and school, we help to insure the achievement of all our students. To monitor daily progress, parents should use Pow- erschool. Teachers update their grade books weekly, and parents can monitor their child’s progress frequently. If you have any confusion or questions pertaining to a particular grade, please contact your child’s teacher immediately. Our second quarter was very busy. We were not only busy with academics but also with sporting events, several club activities, our Fall Book Fair, Family Reading Night, Art Volunteer days, Our PTO hosted Wizards of Basketball and more. Our students enjoyed all of the events and our sports teams defined what it means to be a MUSTANG, as they added many well-earned wins to their records. We are looking forward to Family STEAM night on March 7, 2019, and look forward to seeing families in attendance. As we move into the 4th quarter, students are looking for- ward to demonstrating how much they have grown on the upcoming PARCC tests starting April 9, and NWEA MAP assessment in May. Fifth grade students will also take the Illi- nois Science Assessment during the third week of April. Our learning community would not be complete without our amazing volunteers. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents and other family members that sup- port our students and staff throughout the school year. On any given day, you can walk Hadley Happenings 2 through our building and see parents helping with treat days, attending field trips,, partic- ipating in fundraising events, chaperoning our PTO monthly student evening events, and Kindergarten Registration assisting with the many special happenings that we have throughout the year. Your con- 3,4 tributions and support are what makes our school and learning community amazing. Be- Middle Years 5,6 cause of your selfless acts, you are making a difference in the lives of our children. On be- half of the students and staff at Hadley Middle School, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all you do. Hadley is a great place to be. Hadley Middle School Homer 33C Kindergarten Registration, cont’d Step 3: Completion of Infosnap online registration form and payment of fees. In April, parent/guardian will be mailed (and emailed) a letter that contains an “InfoSnap log-in code”. The InfoSnap online process will provide guidance and prompts to make sure that everything needed is entered before the registration is submitted. ●Registration fee will be assessed online when completing this Infosnap online registration step. (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or electronic check are accepted.) ●There will be a $25 NSF charge for all returned payments. ●Every Kindergarten student is required to have a current physical. Completed Kindergarten physical forms must be turned in no later than August 1, 2019. Health records & physical must be completed by the appropriate medical per- sonnel. Out of state health records will not be accepted. ●No child will be allowed to start the school year without a completed physical exam from their doctor. HELPFUL REMINDERS! HADLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL 708-226-7725 For attendance: If your child will not be attending school on a particular day, you must phone in his/her ab- sence. Please call the main number and listen for the prompt to the Attendance Office to leave the information for the ab- sence. If you know in advance your child will be missing a day or more - please send a note or call the absence line. Your child’s absence will be considered unexcused until we hear from you. You must notify office of absence. Lunch Accounts: The Hadley office staff does not have access to students lunch accounts. If students accounts are low they will be sent to the office to call a parent to replenish their lunch account. If parent is unable to replenish the lunch account the student will be given a snack, consisting of a bag of goldfish, pretzels, or a granola bar, and a milk or water. Please make sure you have your child’s lunch accounts up to date so they don’t waste their lunch period coming to the office to make a phone call. Setting up an online account will eliminate these issues-it has no fees, and is accessible with balance reminders available to you. Please go to EZschoolpay.com on the Homer 33C website at www.homerschools.org. Homework Policy: If your child is absent and you would like to pick up homework, you must phone or email the teach- er to make arrangements with the teacher for homework pickup. Please do not call or email the office with the request - this needs to go through the teachers. Homework can be picked between 2:20 and 4:00pm. Bus Changes: Students are expected to ride to and from on their assigned busses only. If you need to make other ar- rangements for your child to ride a different bus for emergency purposes only - you must contact the Transportation Department at 708-226-7625. The transportation department will let Hadley know if it has been approved and a bus pass will be provided to your child. Dismissal: If your child will be picked up at dismissal or earlier please either call the Hadley office or send in a note to the Hadley office. Please do not call after 2:00pm to let us know your student will be picked up - by that time dismissal has al- ready started and it will be difficult to notify the student. 4

Feb 13-Thank an adult in the school for something they do Feb 14-Help a classmate solve a problem Feb 15-All Kindness Counts Day  Students given a ticket for doing that particular theme of the day  Students put ticket in Kindness Box (located in lunchroom) with homeroom on it  At the end of the week, homeroom with the highest number of Kindness tickets, gets a pizza party. 7
