Grade IX Extempore The Extempore Competition was conducted for the students of Grade IX on 9/4/2021. Participants from each house enthusiastically participated in the competition. Each participant was given 1 minute 30 seconds to speak on the given topic. The judging criteria was based on Content, Organization of Thoughts, Voice Modulation, Gestures and Facial expressions. It was a delight to listen to students who shared their thoughts impromptu on insightful topics. Grade VIII and IX Logo Making Competition Logo Making Competition was held on 26th March 2021 for the Students of Grade 9 as part of their SUPW Activity. The topic was- 'Covid Vaccination Drive in India' and 'Online Education' which were disclosed at the time of the competition. The competition comprised 6 entries from each House. Participants were given a total of 35 minutes to design the Logo and submit it. All the Participants actively participated and displayed their creative best in designing the Logo.
SECONDARY SECTION Grade VI and VII Handwriting Competition “Handwriting is a spiritual designing even though it appears by means of a material instrument.” - Euclid With the invasion of technology, the beauty of handwritten letters and precise penmanship has unfortunately been lost in the digital shuffle. As Mahatma Gandhi has rightly said, “I saw that bad handwriting should be regarded as a sign of imperfect education\". Owing to the importance of handwriting in today’s world, grade VI and VII conducted the Handwriting Competition online. To develop in children fine motor skill and confidence, Handwriting Competition was held in March. Grade VI, VII and VIII Poetry Writing Competition Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words. -Robert Frost An online Poetry Writing Competition was held for grade VII in both English and Hindi which inspired our young poet and poetess to participate with much zest. The theme of the poem was “Colours of Life.” Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words and this was well showcased by the children of grade VII where all the poetries were admirably- written. The young minds are full of avidity and mirth and their elegantly phrased verses made the colors of life vibrant and sprightly. Music Makers Grade IX Music Makers Competition was held on 16th April, 2021 for the students of Grade 9 as part of their SUPW Activity. Participants from each house performed live with a lot of interest playing their best tunes. Each participant was given 2 minutes to perform. The judging criteria was based on Dynamic Playing, Musical Expression, Level of Skill, Rhythm and Creative Inserts. The audience was enthralled with each rendition, and each student in the crowd hoped their house would be victorious.
SECONDARY SECTION Grade IX Captivating Caricatures Captivating Caricatures Competition was held on 23rd April, 2021 for the students of Grade 9 as part of their SUPW Activity. The Competition involved 100% participation only adding to the excitement and fervor. Children made spellbinding Caricatures of Politicians, Super Heroes and Famous Personalities. The judging criteria was based on choice of Character, Detail Study of Medium, Neatness and Creativity. Grade VI- IX Solo Singing Competition Music gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, ight to the imagination and life to everything. -Plato To bring out the singing talents of the students, an online Singing Competition was conducted for Grade VI-IX as an SUPW Activity. The competitors presented a variety of songs and made the whole atmosphere melodious. Music helps in the brain development of a child. It helps children to be more focused. Each singer was enveloped in his own new space and belted out the song he had prepared, giving it his best go. All the young maestros sang to their level best and made the competition a great success. The best three singers were judged and their beaming faces lifted up the spirit of mastering their talent more for future. The budding singers exhibited their enthralling performance with their melodious voice to adjudge. SECONDARY SECTION EUMIND International Collaboration # Virtually No one in today’s time is alien to the term ‘Global Citizen’. This stands veracious, when we talk about education. Education today, is not where the so called ‘Millennial’ grow up to just earn a living as instructed to ‘Gen Z’. We are rather educating the future global citizens who will face a world where walls are abstract. Being a Global Citizen is ‘The only need of the hour’. International collaboration in the field of education has opened a myriad of spectrums for the students to learn from. With schools being shut due to the pandemic, online education has been the rescuer. A lot has changed in the recent times but; the spirit of the educators and students, and with the same zeal as ever N. L. Dalmian’s continued their ‘International Collaboration Program’ # virtually. In the month of March the students of N. L. Dalmia High School collaborated with the students of Jan Van Brabant College of the Netherlands to discuss on the topic-Life during Pandemic. Students shared their experiences about how the pandemic changed the lifestyle, affected the learning experience and how N. L. Dalmia High School advanced, adjusting and excelling itself in these tough times. There was also a discussion on the shift to online classes and India’s role in fighting the pandemic. 55 students of N. L. Dalmia High School attended an International Conference organized by TIO University of the Netherlands. There was an exchange of views on topics ranging from ‘Business Collaboration’ between India and the Netherlands to ‘Virtual Learning- its tools, Pros and cons etc. The meeting ended with a spectacular virtual tour of the Netherlands. N. L. Dalmia strongly values and believes in its ‘EUMIND’ Project. ‘The Europe Meets India Project is in its 7th year, with Ms. Payal Saini, The International Coordinator for EUMIND and N. L. Dalmia. Students conducted online interviews on Zoom, using Google forms. Awareness generating activities were conducted through online debates, Poem recitation competition, Extempore, Declamation etc. The practice was certainly an enriching experience for our students and was judged by an international jury. While 6 of our projects received certificates of excellence, 2 projects made by 10 students bagged the ‘Good practice Award’, a special recognition introduced during these tough times. The Pandemic has drastically affected the world and the field of education. While the classrooms are replaced by a virtual world, every student has displayed their ability to adapt.
