5th Regional Cyber Security Summit showcased the future of Cyber Security, Cloud Security, APT and the Cyber 2020 VisionTo combat and create awareness on the growing Cyber threats in the MENA Region, The ArabRegional Cyber Security Center, The National Telecom Regulatory Authority along with NispanaInnovative Platforms organized the Regional Cyber Security Summit, which took place from 30 Octto 1 Nov at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.Gaining the momentum from the 4th Annual Regional Cyber Security event which was held in SaudiArabia in April 2016, the 5th Annual was an extension of the Cybersecurity initiatives conductedacross MENA region which mainly focused upon the future of Cyber Security, Cloud Security, APTand the Cyber 2020 VisionThe summit gathered over 300 plus decision makers from across Oil & Gas, Utilities, Aviation,Defence, Telecom& Law enforcement agencies to understand innovations in cyber security andeducate implement the best policies and practices to combat cyber threats.What happened at 5th Regional Cyber Security Summit:Dr. Sheriff Hashem, VP Cyber Security, National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority openedthe summit with a welcome address followed by Eng. Badar Al Salehi, Director General of OmanNational CERT and Head of ITU ARCC. They highlighted the need for high level of awarenessamongst government & organization to enhance their IT Security Infrastructure. The summitwitnessed high level Speakers from International Telecommunication Union ( ITU), Ernst & Young,Duzon, Regional CERT’s which included Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Tunisia, Sudan and AfricanCERTS’s.The three day summit was hosted under the patronage of H.E Yasser el Qady, Minister ofCommunications and Information Technology, Egypt who also shared his knowledge on therole of “CyberSecurity for National and Critical Infrastructure Protection”.With participation from over 77 countries, the event featured 35 speakers who delivered regionaland international case studies highlighting the most pressing issues, including the rise of connecteddevices and IOT, use of mobile apps in the Banking sectors and demystifying the facts regardingDark Web.Along with the case study presentations, the event featured panel discussions and live simulationsessions, which provided the attendees an opportunity to experience in real how an attack takesplace and allowed them to challenge the panelists and speakers with their queries.With the support from international &regional companies including: Ernst & Young, Duzon,Guidance Software, Dell Secure Works, Insight, EliteVAD, Trend Micro, Checkmarx and TEData, the 5th Annual Regional Cyber Security Summit was a grand success.
