Conference Preview The Middle East Health & Safety | Conference & Expo was inaugurated by His Excellency Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al Busaidi , Undersecretary for Administrative Development Affairs, Ministry of Civil Services, Oman. The exhibition hosted 14 handpicked international service providers. The conference was organized in association with Oman’s Ministry of Oil & Gas, Ministry of Manpower and Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI). The welcome address was made by Mr. Salim Said Al-Badi, General Director of Labour Care, Ministry of Manpower, Oman. This was followed by presentations from Ministry of Health, PASI, Ministry of Environment and Climate affairs and distinguished experts. The 2 day conference was well attended by 140+ HSE heads from all across Oman, Kuwait & UAE and witnessed participation from Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Royal court Affairs, Oman Air, Oman Oil Company Exploration Production, Oman Cables Industry Co., Phoenix O&M Company, Shell Oman, L&T, ORPIC, Sohar Port and Freezone, OMRAN, SSHIC, Galfar Engineering & Contracting, etc. The presentations were simultaneously translated in Arabic and English, enabling the audience to gather more information. The conference concluded with bringing out clarity on the rules, regulations and labor laws. Many experts emphasized on the role of the leadership and management in implementing HSE. With three case-studies and a real life incident highlighted the importance of right HSE policies and the importance of adhering to them, while bringing out ways these attendees can reduce the incident rates due to human factors. Two certified workshops titled “Risk Based Plant Maintenance” and “Operational Safety in Oil & Gas” was organized for 30 handpicked attendees post the conference. These three hour interactive workshops had case-studies, discussed practical problem solving techniques and allowed the audience to share innovative ideas and learn from each other’s experience. The Inaugural edition focused on the basic knowledge and covered few areas with a simple approach as the inaugural edition focused on laying a good and strong foundation. The second edition we will be discussing complex concepts and few key challenges will be discussed in detail with some case studies.
