Celaena\t charged\t down\t the\t road,\t heading\t for\t the\t edge\t of\t the\t town.\t With\t the sloping,\twide-open\troad,\tshe\tcould\tsee\tSam\tracing\tfar\tahead\u2014and\ta\tlarge\tgroup of\t pirates\t not\t too\t far\t behind\t him.\t The\t cut\t on\t her\t arm\t throbbed,\t but\t she\t pushed herself\tto\trun\tfaster. Sam\thad\tmere\tminutes\tto\tget\tthat\tchain\tdown,\tor\telse\tthe\tslaves\u2019\tships\twould shatter\tupon\tit.\tEven\tif\tthe\tslaves\u2019\tships\twere\table\tto\tstop\tbefore\tthey\thit\tit,\tthere were\t enough\t smaller\t boats\t heading\t out\t that\t the\t pirates\t would\t overpower\t them. The\tpirates\thad\tweapons.\tAside\tfrom\twhatever\twas\tonboard\tthe\tships,\tthe\tslaves were\tunarmed,\teven\tif\tmany\tof\tthem\thad\tbeen\twarriors\tand\trebels. There\t was\t a\t flash\t of\t movement\t from\t the\t half-crumbling\t tower.\t Steel glimmered,\t and\t there\t was\t Sam,\t charging\t up\t the\t staircase\t that\t wound\t up\t the outside\tof\tthe\ttower. Two\tpirates\trushed\tdown\tthe\tsteps,\tswords\traised.\tSam\tdodged\tone,\tknocking him\t down\t with\t a\t swift\t strike\t to\t the\t spine.\t Before\t the\t pirate\t had\t even\t finished falling,\tSam\u2019s\tblade\tskewered\tthe\tother\tman\tclean\tthrough\tthe\tmiddle.
