Orientation Day 2023 A n orientation session was held to formally welcome incoming students and their families to the Manthan community. The program was created to help new students feel at ease and supported throughout their transition to a new school as well as to provide crucial information about the school's policies, practices, and expectations. The school's dance team and choir gave a power pact presentation to the audience. Overall, the orientation program was successful and gave incoming students and their families a great chance to learn more about the school. Fire Safety Drill “Disaster can happen anytime, anywhere, with anyone, so its better to be prepared.” To acclimatize the students and teachers for a situation that god forbid may arise like fire or earthquake a fire drill was conducted in which students were explained all the exit locations and how they can save themselves and their peers. All the teachers and students took part in the drill actively and mindfully, they also took care of all the responsibilities they were assigned with during the drill. Drill like these act as stimulus so that in the real situations everybody is prepared to some extent mentally.
Summer Camp Summer vacation is the most awaited time of the year for the learners as it gives relief from the scorching heat and monotonous schedule, but it is also the time to brush up their key skills and do something which interests them. To cater to the needs of curious learners a 10-day long summer camp was organized within the school premises where in skills like drawing, handwriting, music and dance were taught in a different and interactive way. At the end of the 10 day long camp the students were awarded with certificates for their achievement. A mother selflessly fulfils all our desires and cares for us till her last breath. “Mother’s Day”, a day especially dedicated to cherish motherhood, was celebrated with great elation in the Early Years wing. A series of activities were organized to honour the most sacrificing and loving souls. The students of Pre-school – Grade 8 participated wholeheartedly in this celebration. Children presented beautiful and heartfelt song and dance performances for their mothers to convey gratitude for their unconditional love. Earth Day Celebration “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”- Helen Keller On the occasion of Earth Day, our school organized an assembly to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and taking steps toward sustainability. The assembly was attended by students, parents, teachers and staff members. During the assembly a number of programs like talk, skit, and song were presented which enlightened the audience and it came to an end with a plantation drive where the students along with their parents, teachers and the Principal of the school, planted the saplings. The Earth Day assembly was an excellent initiative by the school to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect our planet and to inspire everyone to take action toward a sustainable future.
EDGE 2023– An Inter School Competition “Competitions play a vital role in motivating students to perform, enhance their creative skills, showcase their talents, boost confidence and develop a sense of responsibility along with teamwork.” K eeping up with the aforesaid, EDGE, an Inter school competition was held to celebrate the extraordinary talent and skills of students, in an environment of healthy competition and sportsmanship. Students from different schools across NCR showcased their talents in diverse fields of art. Various competitions of art, music and dance were organized wherein students proved their mettle. Their vivacity and brilliance were reflected in their performances. Students gained exposure and won prizes for their school, thus experiencing an environment of healthy competition and diverse forms of learning towards the growth of aspirations. The inter-school competition EDGE was a grand success and it achieved its objective of promoting critical thinking and creativity among the students. The school administration deserves commendation for organizing such a remarkable event that will be remembered by the students for a long time.
Shape Collage Competition “Art Expression is a unique way of linking imagination and creativity with the shades and tints of colours and paints.” Y oung minds love working on collages as it unleashes their creativity. Creating a collage can not only be fun but also can help develop their fine motor skills and their awareness of colour and texture. As children progress in school and beyond, it continues to provide opportunities for brain development, mastery, self-esteem and creativity. The best way to develop learning through creativity is to let children use a variety of materials and give them time to create art on their own. With this thought in mind, a “Shape Collage Competition” was held for Grade 1 students. The children were allotted 30 minutes to use various coloured paper cutouts to create a collage on the theme “Animal with different shapes”. Children created their masterpieces with great enthusiasm and the competition provided an enriching activity in which participants put forth their imagination creatively. The collages were judged on various parameters like the incorporation of the theme given, usage of shapes, neatness and overall presentation. The array of colours displayed by the little ones was a sight to behold. Indeed, the competition was a showcase of art exploding from every piece of collage. Workshops on Ceramic, Resin Art, Digital Film and VFX 'You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.' To inspire creative young minds with relevant skills to become successful in the Global Design Industry, the students of Grades 10, 11 and 12 visited IMS Design and Innovation Academy, Noida. The budding enthusiasts attended various workshops on Ceramic, Resin Art, Digital Film and VFX. The Hands-on experience provided the young minds with a vibrant and participative platform for practical learning and kept them stimulated and excited. It was an immensely enriching and interesting for the students. The campus tour and the workshops helped the students learn about the real and practical knowledge of the design industry. Career Counseling Workshop “Opportunities don’t happen, you create them.” C areer choices are crucial in determining how kids will develop and progress in the future. With a plethora of career options available in contemporary times, the role of a career counseling session becomes indispensable. A career counseling workshop was organized for Grades 9-11 in collaboration with Delhi Metropolitan Education, affiliated with IP University. The speaker for the session, Dr. Shalini Gautam, an associate professor and head of outreach at DME, led the session. It is common among students going through this transition phase to get influenced by misinformation and end up making the wrong decision. The students were urged not to make decisions based on peer pressure. Students were made aware of the different options in profession and courses they could pursue based on the subject choices they would make. The speaker also emphasized the need of choosing the correct mix of subjects for each student's ability, which should show in their academic success. Students were guided about prestigious universities and numerous new and upcoming courses. Queries raised by the students were addressed toward the end of the session. Overall, it was an immensely enriching and interesting one for the students.
Health & Hygiene Workshop Menstrual health and hygiene have been a long-standing taboo subject in many societies, leading to misinformation, shame, and stigma for women and girls. The school, in association with Apollo Hospital, organized a seminar for the girls, mothers and female staff to acquaint them with menstrual health and hygiene as essential aspects of women's well-being. Dr. Pakhee Aggarwal, a senior consultant, Gynae-oncology & Robotic Surgery addressed the gathering and explained the menstrual cycle as a natural bodily process that every woman goes through. The aim was to provide access to accurate information, sanitary products, and adequate facilities that are crucial to ensure that women and girls can manage their periods with dignity and without shame. Happy Classroom Workshop “A happy teacher creates a happy classroom.” Based on the thought a happy classroom workshop was conducted for the school teachers by one of the fellow teach, who attended the workshop conducted by CBSE. The aim of the workshop was to awaken the creativeness of all the teacher which some how gets lost in the daily classroom, the workshop enriched the teachers with all the practices that they plan to follow but somehow end up not doing them. It reminded the teachers about the basic reality of life that irrespective of the problems and issues, it is the duty of a person to always stay positive, joyful and spread happiness in life.
Boot Camp at IIT Delhi “Ideas won’t keep. Something must be done about them and that is how innovations happen” A s a school, we believe in the holistic development of students and hence in collaboration with Enactus, IIT Delhi, The Entrepreneurship Boot Camp was organized and about 58 students from Grades 9-12 participated and successfully learned a skill that how inner vision can be converted into innovation. During the camp students were taught about making Business Plans and Market Surveys during the three-day Boot Camp. Interactive sessions on Paper Prototyping and Business model canvas were conducted with learning-based activities. Moreover, the learners were made to face situations similar to the problems faced by real-life entrepreneurs to find proper solutions to overcome the difficulty. After the idea generation, teams of participants were formed, who got a chance to pitch their ideas to a panel. Indeed this Boot Camp helped students to develop an entrepreneurial mind and learn how real-life pitching of ideas takes place. Court Visit – Karkarduma “Courts are regarded as the temples of justice.” On the occasion of “world Telecommunication Day”, as directed by Ld. Principal District & Sessions Judge/Chairman (DLSA/East) under “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, The visit to Karkardooma Court Complex was organised on 18th May2023. The visit started with observation of functioning of running courts followed by interaction with the Judges. During the visit, the students got an opportunity to see the functioning of Front Office, Vulnerable Witness Centre, Running Courts, and Mediation Centre etc. The students also got to interact with the Ld. Judges sitting in the Courts. The students witnessed various court hearing in groups like civil cases hearing, followed by family court hearings. Students were also taken to vulnerable witness centre and POCSO Court where the honorable judge enlightened students about the rights of minors and acknowledged their questions. The visit gave an insight to real life scenario of court and legal system to help students become an active and responsible citizen, it also aimed to clear their doubts about law as a career and the scope of it in real life. The visit was quite enthralling for the students and they came ack with their minds filled with thoughts.
Visit to IITTM Campus, Noida The students of Yuva Tourism club and grade 11 Humanities along with 2 teachers had visited the IITTM Campus, Noida sector 62, on 10th May 2023. IITTM is an autonomous institute which comes under Ministry of Tourism. The aim of the visit was to enrich the students with the scope they have in the field of tourism along with the courses offered by the institute. The students were also enriched by the talks of various scholars about various topic such as the cultural history of India. It was an exuberating, knowledge filled visit for the students and teachers. Visit to MC Million Scientist It is a remarkable achievement, three young and talented students, Achintya Mishra, Apoorva Pandey, and Atharva Kashyap of Grade 9 were selected to the zonal round from the north zone for the Macmillan Budding Scientist Award 2022-23. They got the opportunity to present their project 'Operation Hole' in front of jury members at IIT Delhi. Their remarkable journey in the competition highlights their dedication, ingenuity, and commitment to scientific inquiry. Their project exemplify innovation, critical thinking, and a deep passion for their chosen areas of study. The Macmillan Budding Scientist Award not only recognizes their talent but also provided them with a platform to further develop their skills and contribute to the scientific community.
TRIP TO KANATALA ‘Travel opens your heart, broadens your mind and fills your life with stories to tell.' T o promote learning through outdoor interactions and experiences, a fun-filled trip for the students of Grades 6 to 12 was organised to Kanatal, a beautiful hill station frequented for its pristine beauty. The extravaganza began with curious eyes and hearts beaming with excitement looking at the pleasing views to offer. The students were apprised about working together as teams, setting goals, taking challenges and motivating each other. The students and the accompanying teachers enjoyed the blissful sojourn in the luxurious tents amidst the rich opulence of nature. The tranquil ambience, luscious food and salubrious morning exercises in the serene oxygen-rich forest made the stay a memorable experience. Under the supervision of professional instructors, the students indulged in a gamut of activities like zip line, rappelling, tent pitching, valley crossing, rope course, etc. with full zest and vigour. The spontaneous overflow of powerful emotions was conspicuously reflected as the students sang to their heart’s elation around the bonfire and thumped at the DJ nights. Next day an eight kilometers trek in the Kaudia Eco park set the adrenaline of the young students rushing. It allowed them to explore the grandeur and depth of nature and get acquainted with the exquisite variety of flora. Students were so enthralled and enamoured by the adventurous camp that they were reluctant to leave the premises. But as the saying goes that “All good things come to an end”, so did this trip with a learning of new skills and experiences. It strengthened in them the bond of friendship, a sense of responsibility, the value of sharing &caring and outdoor survival techniques. The students savored the true nectar of adventure and undoubtedly holistic education was at its victorious best.
