Help Training Institute Difference Help Training Institute is a Registered Training Organisation and a division of Help Enterprises, a social enterprise not-for-profit organisation that exists to “enhance the lifestyle and independence of people who live with disabilities”. We first entered the training market as Help Enterprises Skills Training Centre in 1995 as we saw a need to provide high quality, tailored training to our disability cohort. Today, Help Training Institute (HTI) has grown from a boutique training provider, specialising in training people with a disability, to a multifaceted provider of training for every person; offering both non-accredited short courses and accredited training through to the Diploma level. We are the 2013 Queensland and Australian Small Training Provider of the Year, a title we proudly won at the 2013 Australian Training Awards. 1

At HTI, our student Support Servicesis here to help you create the best learning experience to achieve your goals. This service includesadministration assistance, time management, resume and interviewing technique as well as careerguidance.The Fison Food Factory was established in 2013 to create a simulated training/work environment forstudents to train in a qualification for Hospitality, Commercial cookery or Barista short courses that wouldgive them the skills that would eventually lead to sustainable employment. The cafe is visited by localbusinesses, Monday to Friday, as well as Help staff to enjoy a substantial breakfast and lunch, or drop infor one of our fantastic coffees. 3
Qualifications at Help Training Institute Australian Qualifications Framework The following information is in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework. This is a guide to the structure of courses offered at Help Training Institute. For specific course details and articulation pathways, refer to the course section within this guide. Certificate IA Certificate I course will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills required for initial work andprovide a platform for further learning. You will be able to apply foundational cognitive,technical and communication skills to undertake defined routine activities and identify and report simpleissues and problems. You will be able to demonstrate autonomy in highly structured andstable contexts. Certificate IIA Certificate II course will equip you with the knowledge and skills for work in a defined context andprovide a platform for further learning. You will be able to apply cognitive, technical and communicationskills to undertake defined activities and provide solutions to a limited range of predictable problems.You will be able to demonstrate autonomy and judgement in structured and stable contexts. Certificate IIIA Certificate III course will equip you with technical, procedural and practical knowledge for work in adefined context and further learning. You will be able to apply a specialised range of methods, toolsand information to complete routine activities and provide solutions to problems. You will be able todemonstrate autonomy and judgement and take limited responsibility in known and stable contextswithin established parameters. Certificate IVA Certificate IV course will equip you with broad factual, technical and theoretical knowledge of a specificarea or broad field of work and learning. Graduates at this level will be able to use their learnings tocomplete routine and non-routine activities and provide solutions to a variety of problems. You will beable to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and limited responsibility in known or changing contextswithin established parameters. DiplomaA Diploma course is the highest level of study from a registered training organisation and will equip youwith specialised knowledge and skills for skilled/paraprofessional work and designed to offer the studentthe most comprehensive skills and experience necessary to enter their chosen industry and a clearerpath to further education at university. You can use your learnings to apply method and technologiesto analyse information to complete a range of activities, provide solutions to complex problems andtransmit information to others. Funding VET FEE– HELP VET FEE-HELP is a loan scheme that helps eligible VET students pay their tuition fees for certain higher- level VET qualifications for people enrolling in vocational education and training (VET) courses at the diploma level and above. VET FEE-HELP is available to eligible VET fee paying/fee for service students. These students are enrolled in fee paying places at approved VET providers, and charged tuition fees for their studies. Certificate 3 Guarantee The Certificate 3 Guarantee provides eligible Queenslanders with access to a government subsidised training place, up to and including their first post-school Certificate level III qualification in priority training areas. The Certificate 3 Guarantee is targeted at Certificate III qualifications because they are considered the entry-level qualification most often needed to gain employment in many industries. Please note that prospective students are only eligible for one subsidised training place for a Certificate level III qualification. Fee Free for Year 12 Graduates Year 12 graduates can access fee-free training in areas considered to be high priority in Queensland. Training must take place with an approved training provider such as HELP Training Institute. Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) SQW provides training to people who are under-utilised or under-employed in the labour market, as well as building the skills of young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, mature-age job seekers and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. User Choice The User Choice program provides public funding contribution toward the cost of training for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees. The aim of this program is to develop the skills needs of industry and respond to changing government policies. The program works in conjunction with the Commonwealth Australian Apprenticeships System under which Australian apprentices enter into legally binding training contracts with their employers and receive structured training to achieve a nationally recognised training. Pre-Apprenticeship & Employment ProgramsPre-apprenticeship and pre-employment programs are available for Certificate I, II and III qualificationsand are an opportunity to trial a trade or vocation before you take the plunge and enter into one. Theseprograms are nationally recognised opportunities that can lead to an Apprenticeship or Traineeship andcreate a point of difference which will help make you a more attractive potential employee and give you valuable industry time and experience. How do they work? Pre-apprenticeship Programs Pre-apprenticeship programs provide entry into nationally recognised trade qualifications. They are generally structured to run for a period of 12 - 26 weeks and include technical trade training in a simulated training environment which you can then apply within the industry whilst undertaking vocational placement. Pre-employment Programs Pre-employment programs provide 4 – 6 weeks of nationally recognised training, including two weeks of vocational placement with an employer. Pre-employment programs allow you to complete or partially complete a Certificate I, II or III qualification, which may articulate into an Apprenticeship or Traineeship.
