Comparative adjectives are used when two persons or objects being compared.
Adjectives words that describe or modify another person or thing big, small, tall, long, high, beautiful, handsome
Adjectives with One Syllable : add “er”
My house is bigger than yours. The Pacific Ocean is deeper than the Arctic Ocean. The Earth is larger than the moon.
This box is smaller than the one I lost. Your dog is faster than Jim's dog. The rock is higher than the roof.
Two syllables not ending in -y, -ow, -le, -er: more + adjective Some two-syllable adjectives, especially ending in –y: y => i, add “er” Some two syllable adjectives ending in –ow: add “er
John is happier today than he was yesterday. Max is angrier than Mary. Max is more careful than Mike. Big dogs are gentler than small dogs.
Adjectives with Three syllables or more: add ‘more’
I’m more interested in music than sport. Her bag is more expensive than mine. That flower is more beautiful than this one.
The book was better than the movie. Today is worse than yesterday.
