I am Daniel and once upon a time I was a photographer. I later became a tour guide, realizing my true calling among the ancient wonders of Egypt. Photography for me led to an assignment five years ago in Cairo, and that turned out to be the beginning of something that went way beyond photography; it is now the combination of visual storytelling and guiding people around this wonderful country.
From active and lively Cairo, to relaxing beaches in Hurghada, to colorful coral reefs in Sharm el-Sheikh, these are just some of the destinations that my journeys will take me to. But I am different from other tour guides because I will take an excursion with a photographer's eye to help visitors not just see but capture the moments that are stored in memories. It's absolutely magical teaching someone how to frame with a camera the perfect sunset view of the pyramids or get that golden light caught inside an ancient temple.
This is actually my specialty: blending the stuff people expect from a regular sightseeing tour with a few unusual photo opportunities. We could spend the morning exploring some secret spots in Islamic Cairo and then go on to catch the afternoon light at a local artisan's workshop. My guests often tell me that they haven't just got memories, they have a new way of viewing Egypt through their lens.
Most fun in my work happens when people are not just introduced to Egypt but it is more finding their unique perspective of the country's beauty. Whether it is capturing the beauty of street life in the ancient quarters of Cairo, the sunset dance of light in the water of the Red Sea, or the documentation of traditional life inside a Bedouin village, every tour becomes a personal journey of discovery because the country has ancient wonders and wonderful modern cultures to offer new adventures always, either adventurous or artistic.
