C Inside the Lab Make sure you do these activities only with the help of a teacher or an adult. Activity C1: Be Your Favourite Animal Which is your favourite animal? Tiger, elephant or rabbit? Or any bird like a parrot, penguin or a duck? Would you like to be one of them? Let us see how. You will need: paper plates, coloured papers, ice-cream sticks, pencil, crayons, a pair of scissors, string and glue. You need to: 1) L et us make a mask of the animal you want to be. Select a coloured paper same as the colour of the animal you wish to be. Draw outlines of its eyes, ears, nose and mouth on the paper. 2) W ith the help of an adult, cut along the outlines to get the shapes of eyes, ears, nose and mouth of the animal. (You may also mark outlines on a paper plate, colour them with the colour of the animal and then, cut along the outlines.) 47
3) P aste those shapes on a paper plate. Make holes in the eyes of the mask so that you can see around when you put on the mask. 4) G et the face of your favourite animal ready! 5) M ake a hole on either side of the face. Tie strings in the holes to get the mask ready! 6) P ut on the mask and be your favourite animal! (You may stick the mask on an ice-cream stick as well.) Activity C2: Traffic Signals Traffic lights are very important in maintaining public safety and order on the road. You will need: red, yellow, green and black craft paper, scissors, glue sticks, markers, ice cream stick and a bottle cap to trace a circle. You need to: 1) U se a bottle cap to draw circles on red, green and yellow papers. 2) C ut out the circles. Cut out a rectangle from the black paper. 3) Paste the rectangle on the ice cream stick. 4) O n the black rectangle, stick the red circle on top, yellow circle in the middle and the green circle at the bottom. With this traffic signal, you can play the traffic lights game outdoors or indoors if enough space is there. 48
