If-clauses

If - clauses ประโยคเงื่อนไข ซึ่งจะมี 2 ประโยคย่อย ได้แก่ ประโยคหลัก หรือ Main Clause ประโยคที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย If หรือ If Cluase

1) Zero Conditional Sentences (type 0) ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ ที่เป็นจริงเสมอ If + Simple Present, Simple Present If you heat water to 100 celsius, it boils. Simple Present + if + Simple Present Water boils if you heat it to 100 celsius.

If people________ (eat) too much, they ________ (get) fat. If you_________(touch) a fire, you_________ (get) burned.

People_________(die) if they _____________(not eat). If babies________ (be) hungry, they ________ (cry)

If my husband ________ (cook), he ____________(burn) the food. If Julie ____________ (not wear) a hat, she ________(get) sunstroke.

1) First Conditional Sentences (type 1) ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ ที่เป็นจริงเสมอ ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ ที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้ นจริง/อาจจะเป็นไปได้ รูปแบบนี้ จะมี Modal หรือกริยาช่วย (เช่น can, may, might, shall, should, must, ….) เพิ่มเข้ามาด้วย If + Present simple, S. + Modal + infinitive verb If their teacher teaches, the students may come to school.

S + Modal + infinitive v. + if + Present simple Students may come to school if their teacher teaches. If Tom studies hard, he will pass the exam. Tom will pass the exam if he studies hard.

She __________(miss) the bus if she _______________(not leave) soon. If you ____________(not feel) better, you _____________ (go) to the hospital. If you ____________(like) this bag, you _____________ (buy) it.

3) Second Conditional Sentences (type 2) ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เป็นไปไม่ได้ ไม่เป็นจริง เพ้อฝันเกิ๊นนนน (สามารถใช้ could กับ might แทน would ได้จ้า) If + Past Simple, S. + would + infinitive v. If had a million bath, I would travel around the world.

S. + would + infinitive v. + if + Past Simple I would travel around the world if I had a million bath. If Mike won the lottery first prize, he could buy a Ferrari. Mike could buy a Ferrari if he won the lottery first prize.

If + S + were (ทุกประธาน) If I were you, I would marry him. If Mike were a president of our country, he could improve the economic. If I were a millionare, I would travel around the world.

4) Third Conditional Sentences (type 3) ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ ที่ตรงกันข้ ามกับความเป็นจริงที่เกิดขึ้ น ณ ตอนนั้นหรือในอดีต หรือกล่าวถึงความเสียดาย ประมาณว่ารู้งี้น่าจะ... เฮ้อ เสียดายจัง If + Past Perfect, S. + would + have + past participle If she had taken medicine, she wouldn’t have gone to the hospital.

S. + would + have + past participle + if + Past Perfect She wouldn’t have gone to the hospital if she had taken medicine, If I had known the time schedule before, I wouldn’t have arrived late. I wouldn’t have arrived late if I had known the time schedule before.

S. + would + have + past participle + if + Past Perfect She wouldn’t have gone to the hospital if she had taken medicine, If I had known the time schedule before, I wouldn’t have arrived late. I wouldn’t have arrived late if I had known the time schedule before.
