1Hello Friends and welcome to the 45 Annual Rainbow Awards Dinner, our th2020 NBCS Over the Rainbow Gala! This evening marks a first for the NBCS community as we celebrate virtually from the safety of our homes. We have committed to each of you an in-person event when it becomes safe and look forward to gathering together to cheer for our Newark Boys Chorus members and their exciting music-making! Tonight, we login to recognize our distinguished Honorees, see and hear from our students, experience highlights of student-life at NBCS, and support the important work of the school. It is through YOUR commitments and care that we continue to offer our students powerful, life-changing experiences without tuition. It is through your gifts that we offer the music and dedication of these boys to the world. Together, we are Newark Boys Chorus School! Tonight’s Honorees represent what is so very important about the City of Newark. Their contributions to the health and safety of our community, business in our City, and guidance of our young people has made purposeful impact on many lives. We are proud to shine a bright light on the success and accomplishments of these members of our community. Their work is inspirational, providing a model for the young men in our care. This is an unusual year with COVID-19 changing our lives in unexpected and remarkable ways. Prior to this difficult time, the school was on track to have a banner year! Our students had an outstanding Holiday Season with over 20 concerts in December alone. Higher student enrollment and new academic initiatives led to exciting instructional experiences. Our COACH commercial was a BIG hit, and new audiences in Princeton and throughout North Jersey were thrilled by the boys’ music. Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the location of our new home in the State Street School! In partnership with the Hanini Group, renovations are beginning, and our move is planned for the coming school year. Our new Instagram platform was launched on April 15 and already we have an impressive thfollowing. Please follow us @newarkboyschorusschool and encourage your followers to connect. It is a very exciting time and your support and contributions go directly to the education of our students. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, administration, staff, and students, thank you for joining us this evening to celebrate. We look forward to meeting together in person later this year to applaud our students and their accomplishments. Please know you have made a tremendous impact on the lives of every Newark Boys Chorus student! Tutti bravi! With warm wishes for good health, Paul Chapin, Head of School [email protected] Borosko, Board Chair [email protected]

On behalf of the students at Newark Boys Chorus School, I would like to thank you for all of the support you have given us and I wanted you know the impact that your generosity have made in our personal and academic lives. I would like to share a few, short messages from my fellow brothers. Your philanthropy has allowed me to travel to places that I would have never imagined going. To see the mountains in Chile was like a dream come true not to mention zip lining for the first time in my life and boy was it scary! Luis Rodriguez 8 Grade thThanks so much again for your generous scholarship. Your benevolence has enabled me to find a home at NBCS and to receive an excellent education. I will never forget your generosity. I would not have been able to travel, take great classes, and make amazing friends if it were not for your kindness. Israel Archibald 7 Grade thMy First year at this school is great so far. It is different from any other school. My teachers and friends are nice all the time, and they are helpful and encouraging. At NBCS, I played piano for the very first time and I am learning so much about music and the different notes. When we sing and have our concerts, I know NBCS is special, and we (students) are special, too. I like going on all of the trips as well. In addition to learning to sing and play piano, at NBCS I’ve learned to be a better swimmer and how to ice skate! It’s so much better than any gym class at my old school! I also like that we learn math and reading, too, because those are my favorite school subjects. I’m very happy that I am a student at NBCS. I love my new school very much! Edward Young 4 Grade thPlease accept my sincerest thank you for this huge help allowing our dreams to come true. And I hope to be able to help future students achieve their academic and personal goals just as you have helped us. James Felton 8 Grade th♫♫Think of Me, Forget Me Not, REMEMBER ME, Wherever You Go ♫♫3
