P A G E 6 INTER-HOUSE MATHEMATICS COMPETITION Competition is essential and intrinsic to life. The desire to compete in overcoming a challenge is deeply rooted in human nature and has been employed for centuries to help people sharpen their skills and improve their performance in various activities. The goal of the annual Inter-House Mathematics Competition in The Regent Secondary School is to provide a challenging, engaging Mathematical experience that is both competitive and educational. It also stimulates the enthusiasm and love for Mathematics, teaches major strategies for problem solving, develops Mathematical flexibility in solving problems, strengthens Mathematical intuition, fosters Mathematical creativity and ingenuity, thereby providing satisfaction, joy and thrill of meeting challenges. In this respect, the Regent Annual Mathematics competition took place on Friday, the 6th of March 2020. The competition was in two categories, KS3 and KS4. It was keenly contested. Team work, speed, accuracy and time consciousness were exhibited among the students. Four Houses contested for first position. Congo House came first in both categories. -Mr. Nwachukwu Nicholas (Quiz Master & Mathematics Teacher) Respect Responsibility Resourcefulness THE REGENT DIGEST VOLUME 8 ISSUE 23

P A G E 1 2 DANFODIO & ODUDUWA BODYLINE OUTING It was an amazing trip, as we dressed up to go to the beautiful sports arena called Bodyline. Bodyline is a place of wonder! The sporting facilities are beautiful and well-kept and the food… exquisite! It was a really good experience. We played football against our seniors in Year 10 and surprisingly our team won. However, the tables turned when another Year 10 team, led by Clinton Nkwocha, came on… it was tough and we knew we were going to lose but we still had confidence in ourselves. Bodyline is that place for people who love sports. It’s a place for family and friends; I went with my family and friends, my family - DanFodio and Oduduwa, my friends! I can’t wait to back; it was truly amazing! -Mustapha El-Rufai (Year 8 Congo) Respect Responsibility Resourcefulness THE REGENT DIGEST VOLUME 8 ISSUE 23
