In 1920, Amelia took a plane ride that changed her life. She decided to take flying lessons and worked hard to learn everything about flying. On 22 October 1922, she flew to a height of 14,000 feet and set a world record for female pilots. On 15 May 1923, Amelia Earhart became the sixteenth woman to be issued a pilot’s licence.
