Interview: Todd Rundgren The G-Note Feature Interview with “So, trying to regain some sort of tightness, synch, stuff like that, it doesn't come back to you right Song Writer, Producer, Author and Musician: away. It takes a couple gigs for all that to back to you. But as the tour went on it got to be more Todd Rundgren comfortable and more fun and lasted just about the right amount of time.\" Todd Rundgren will be performing at the Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds Casino in New G-Note- Now that is finished, any plans to do it again? Buffalo Mi. on June 7th. TR- “Not really, there’s been no discussion of any When Todd Rundgren's Utopia hit the road for the first time more Utopia touring. But I don’t want to rule it out in 32 years in 2018, Todd and Utopia fans would want some entirely, but I’m not particularly optimistic about it sort of live Album / CD / DVD. Todd Rundgren's Utopia Live at right now, either.” the Chicago Theatre on CD and Blu-ray/DVD became available on April 5th. @GNoteEntertainmentMagazine G-Note Entertainment Magazine talked to Todd Rundgren about Utopia, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. G-Note- Thanks for your time, it’s a pleasure to talk to you! Let’s get right at it and talk about the new Utopia DVD / CD that was recorded in Chicago. TR-\"Certainly, yeah, we all decided if we were going to go through that much trouble, there would be a document of the tour, additionally, we made a lot of deals, from merchandising and other sorts of things, in order to finance the tour because we knew it wasn't going to go on from a terrifically long time and it would have to pay for itself in a relatively short term. So, the video was always part of the plan.\" G-Note- Utopia has a ‘legendary’ spot in the history of Rock & Roll, how many shows are you planning, and whet is the line up? TR- “We were in the middle of a 33-date tour that reunited me, bassist Kasim Sulton and drummer Willie Wilcox during the spring of 2018, and we added keyboardist Gil Assayas when Ralph Shuckett was sidelined by medical issues. We do a two-set show, that will I don’t know, kinda focusing on the more expansive prog-rock of the early Utopia catalog, the second on the ‘pop’ side of the group.” \"It really was a lot fun, it started off very nerve-racking beca4us|ePoaf tghee volume of music we had to cover as well as, you kwnwoww,.Gth-eNboatnedEhnatdenrt'tapinlamyeedntto.bgiezther for 35 years or whatever.”

\"Truthfully, I don't think that anyone is dying to do it again, it's not the kind of thing we can just put together again 'cause we couldn't claim that we hadn't played for 32 years and make that kind of event again. So, then you're back to be a working band again, and I don't think any of us had that intention as we were going through everything.” “From my standpoint it was principally for the benefit of the fans; I was not sitting around yearning to do it, but the fans would constantly say, 'Is this ever gonna happen?' and finally we figured out a way to make it happen.\" Rundgren, has moved on to his next project -- The Individualist Tour that will land in New Buffalo Mi at the Silver Creek Event Center inside the Four Winds Casino on June 7th, supporting the publication of his memoir The Individualist: Digressions, Dreams and Dissertations last December. “The shows on the current our including the one in Michigan will feature historic video content and material from my days with the ‘Nazz’ through 1998, the period covered in the book. I’ll also hold an intermission Q&A at each show, answering questions submitted in the lobby as fans arrive which should be pretty good.” \"It'll be a historical overview, I don't know that I'll stop the show and start reading from the book or anything like that, (Chuckling) but there will be talking going on.” “The show will have a lot of the earlier stuff that fans remember, and we'll be playing it the way they remember it -- in other words we won't be rearranging it into something weird. And because we're playing two nights in most cities the second half of the show will be different each night. Hopefully that keeps everybody entertained -- and keeps me entertained as well. The last 20 years of my music is invisible in this show, but there are fans who have been very faithful and have followed everything and know everything that I've done who will be, I think, quite satisfied with that.\" G-Note- I know you have talked about this topic before, but what’s up with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? TR- “You’re right, I get asked that question all the time, here’s the standard answer. I didn't expect it and have never cared about it, it’s just a weird little club ran by weird little people.” \"The hardest thing is trying to keep my fans' expectations within reason because they don’t know all the ins and outs about it. It's some weird Illuminati thing and nobody understands how it works and who does the voting and the nominee selections and all that sort of crap. I'm not looking for some organization to acknowledge me, somehow. Besides, the Hall of fame doesn't make any sense to me because musicians don't have to retire. Athletes retire, and that's when they go into the hall of fame, because they're not playing anymore. But everybody (the Rock Hall) is inducting now is still playing, so how can you say you've got the measure of them? You don't. So, no, I really don't care.\" @GNoteEntertainmentMagazine 5|Page www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz

N New Music Alert: Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown have shared the brand-new song \"On to the Next\" The riff-roaring track is the first taste of new music from the band's next album, tentatively due this summer. The song and the forthcoming album were recorded with Joel Hamilton (Highly Suspect, Pretty Lights). \"'On to the Next' was inspired by the Shakedown's live show,\" guitar virtuoso Tyler Bryant said, offering some insight into the tune. \"We show up, we leave it all on the table, and we get gone. We've done this regardless of any obstacle since we formed the band. This is something I'm incredibly proud of as I've always valued resilience. The 'we're here no matter what' mentality has inspired me to stick to my guns and charge forward.\" He shared a deeper look into the personal and universal meaning behind the song, saying, \"With that said, I'm often confronted with self-doubt and anxiety. That’s natural when you go wholeheartedly all in, with anything. Over the course of the new recording sessions, these feelings are key players behind a lot of the lyrics. However, they aren’t welcome in 'On to the Next.' The lyrics were born from the attitude of the music and for me, this is purely a song of empowerment.\" Bryant finished, \"When I walk on stage, I wanna feel like the biggest badass in the room. No matter how many awesome Shakedown fans show up, 10 times out of 10, I'm the only one who can make me feel like that. I want this song to make someone else feel like they’re the one if they need it while they’re going through their day. 'On to the Next' is me making a conscious decision to leave every stage I step on a pile of bricks. That's just me, though. When I find myself in that vicious feedback loop of doubt and anxiety, I know I'm not the only one who struggles with that. Everyone has their own mountains to climb and we've all got to harness our own unique mojo and use it to our advantage. The song exists purely to make whoever is 7|Page listening to it feel like a total badass.\" @GNoteEntertainmentMagazine www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz

ENCORE: From Jethro Tull, Guitarist Martin Barre ENCORE Interview with former Jethro Tull guitarist, Martin Barre Our interview with Martin Barre was featured in our 3rd edition, October 2017 Martin Barre has been the guitarist of the legendary group, Jethro Tull for 43 years, his sound and playing having been a major factor in their success. Album sales have exceeded 60 million units and they continue to be played worldwide, representing an important part of classic rock history and is ready to release his new album, ‘Martin Barre: Live From The Factory Underground’. Martin’s guitar playing has earned him a high level of G-Note: We are looking forward to seeing you out on respect and recognition; he was voted 25th best solo ever the road, have you ever been in the Southwest in the USA and 20th best solo ever in the UK for his playing Michigan area performing? on 'Aqualung'. “It’s all about establishing what I’m doing along the side of the classic Jethro Tull being revisited and kept alive by my band.” G-Note: I was a little surprised to see that you had done some collaborative work with guys like Joe Bonamassa, do you consider yourself a student of the Blues? M.B.: “Joe used to be our support band for Jethro Tull when he first started out his touring career. I liked him and we got on well and Joe is like a lot of other great guitarists, he has taken on a lot of information from Blues guitar players and has explored all the corners of the Blues and looks at other musicians like Gary Moore and taken on these guitar sounds over the years to get his own sound. At the end of the day, Joe is a great and important guitar player, he is a thoughtful and melodic guitar player that has a great voice to go along with it.” G-Note – What is your choice of guitar? Are you a Gibson guitar fan? M.B. “I do like Gibson guitars, the older ones, but I’ve liked TRS guitars for about 15 years and on the road and I have a very strong relationship with the company along with they are very, very well made, they sound good and they are incredibly reliable.” “I do like the history of Gibson guitar and it's connection to Kalamazoo, it was an incredibly important manufacturer, In the 1960’s there were two types of guitarists. One group played Fender guitars, the other played Gibson guitars. Like all teenagers that I knew that wanted to play in a band, I used to dribble from the mouth looking at the equipment in the windows of the music shops in Birmingham, England.” “One of my dream guitars was a Cherry Red Gibson ES335. It had cost £175 ($250) in 1964. I couldn’t afford the payments on it, so eventually I bought the Gibson ES 330 Sunburst – cheaper at £155. My Dad had to sign the lease agreement. “ “I also use a GHX amp and strings, they too are a very supportive company and the nice thing is everything product I use is made in the United States because of the very high standards. I you or your readers are interested, I have all of the gear I have used over the years in good detail on my web site, www.martinbarre.com.” G-Note: Do you get to chance to see of the musically historic sites like the old Gibson building when you are on the road? M.B. “Our schedule is pretty crazy, I did have the chance to visit TRS when we were in town but we pretty much drive everywhere, the days of flying to gigs these days are not on the books because of the horrendous delays and you can't rely on it anymore so we drive most of the day and that leaves little room for anything extra to do.” “Traveling isn't the worst part of the job if you drive, you have bigger elements of control with the higher degree of getting there when you need to get there.” G-Note: Didn’t your band, Jethro Tull fly everywhere for shows? M.B. “In the old days, every day was a fly day. We would shuttle on all the equipment, the guitar cases, gear, big Marshall amps, etc. And we traveled with so many people and it was an entirely different animal, we used to fly every day and the first thing we used to do after landing was to check into the motel and try to get a little sleep. Usually 3 hours or so before going to soundcheck before the show, but I’ve done it long enough to where I can make life on the road as comfortable and easy as possible. If I wasn’t doing what I'm doing, I would be a travel agent and a pretty good one at that!” G-Note: I had the pleasure to meet someone a few years ago, Leslie West, I have heard he was an influence on you, True? M.B.- “Yeah, Leslie, I just liked him as a person, great guitar player, artist, and sound. He had a fantastic attitude and just had a great way of getting along and probably the best communication within a band I've seen, and they had fun, so he really was my10ro|lePma ogdeel, i think the world of him even though I'll never be able to play guitar like him, what an inspiration.” www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz @GNoteEntertainmentMagazine

“He’s influenced a lot of people that plays guitar i guess for the same reason as me, he did what he did perfectly, he had a niche in music and took it to the limit and did it beautifully. You can hear my influence of Leslie on 'Aqualung’.” G-Note: Do you think of Jethro Tull as a 'Classical” music rock band? M.B.- “Classical music, not at all. We all were and are incapable to play classical music. Classical music is a focused style of music that no more can Jethro Tull play Jazz. We're a hybrid band that enjoys classical music and when we were backed by an Orchestra, I really didn't enjoy it or though it worked well. Now the Eagles could do that when they played acoustically with a small string section behind them, it was wonderful, for Tull, I was in agony it was 2 worlds colliding together. “ G-Note: Can we talk about Aqualung and some of the other great Jethro Tull songs? M.B. “Well for Aqualung, what I do was take it musically form our own stand point. What I mean is we were varying away from the 12 bar Blues of the day from Freddie or Albert King because no one could play it properly and I stayed away from that. I'm a working musician and I appreciate all of the accoladed from the guitar solo in Aqualung, but all of those compliments don’t make a living. “ G-Note: What can your audience expect to see and hear from you away from Jethro Tull? M.B.- “They are not going to get what they may be expecting, because I like to surprise people and I don't want to be predictable. I don't want people to know what they are going to get before they sit down in their seats for the evening.” “I'm sensitive enough to know what people are liking and from the feedback, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, so I pay attention to the crowd reaction. I may play may solo stuff in the beginning set, or not because it was trying and boring when we had to do the same set, the same way, each night every night with Jethro Tull and I don't want to do that anymore, I want the people that come in, be surprised and delighted by what we play.” G-Note: As we wrap up, what would be the one thing people would be most surprised to know about you? M.B. “Um, I don't really know, let’s see, I have had a huge and very interesting career, so I think most people would surprise to know that after 8 hours of rehearsal with our new drummer that I put on my running shoes and went for a run. I need to do that, I need a release because I don't live music 24 hours a day, there must be a balance between work and I really love the balance and contrast of a healthy life style versus the rock and roll musician. I enjoy being outdoors and I really value that time because I can't do it every day because of our schedule but spending time with family, friends and I really enjoy great music, movies and really well written books.” G-Note: Thank you so much for your time and look forward to seeing you in Benton Harbor Mi. at the Livery Brewery. Formed in the Motor City in 2012 with her husband George Friend, the pair set off on a creative journey writing and recording their own music. The two garnered many accolades within the music press and radio with their debut release “Electrified” in 2013. Performing with a stripped-down lineup of organ, guitar and drums the band developed its signature sound, and cultivated a vintage toned energetic foundation. The second release “Closer” (2014) expanded the sound exposing the bands’ love for Memphis soul, juke-joint blues and tough Detroit funk and r&b. Starting in 2014, the band began touring heavily within the U.S. and Canada. Starting in Chicago with regular appearances at the House of Blues and Buddy Guy’s Legends, Laura Rain has stunned audiences with her intensity and powerful voice. A series of each-better-than-the-next discs began with Alcohol & Salvation in 2001 (“songs about booze and God; records are a time capsule of what happened that year”) 2003’s “Bloodless Revolution”, The Bismeaux Releases: 2008’s “Miss Understood,” 2011’s “Peace Meal” (recorded at Bismeaux and at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock,) 2015’s “Live Texas Trio”; and here we are with 2017’s “Moon Goes Missing.” Carolyn also got to stretch out with other bands and notably appears in Jerry Lightfoot’s Band of Wonder’s 2002 release, “Texistentialism” featuring Jerry Lightfoot, Vince Welnick (Greatful Dead, The Tubes, Todd Rundgren,) Carolyn, Barry “Frosty” Smith (Lee Michaels, Sly & the Family Stone, Rare Earth, Soulhat) and Larry Fulcher (Taj Mahal, Phantom Blues Band). She has released many songs for charity, 2016’s “Room at the Inn” (iTunes) benefits Doctors Without Borders, 2013’s “Money in the Game” (featuring Marcia Ball and Shelley King) benefits Planned Parenthood, “the Farmer Song” from “Miss Understood” benefits Farm AID, “Annie’s Scarlet Letter” from “Bloodless Revolution” benefits NORML, 1997 Justice Records released Carolyn’s version of Little Screamin’ Kenny’s holiday lament, “Blue Lights” (featuring Ian McLagan) benefitting MD Anderson Children’s Art Project. Carolyn’s first appearance on vinyl? She’s with James Williamson (Stooges) on the April 2014 Record Store Day single, “Open Up & Bleed” AND on the full LP inspired by that fun session, “Re-Licked” featuring Raw Power Era songs with cool and risky guests. Her circle of musician friends and admirers broadened to include not only Ray [Benson, who produced Miss Understood] but also the late Eddy Shaver, Shelley King, and yes, Bob Dylan, who likened her composition “Bloodless Revolution” to “a mystery movie theme.” She appeared on the same taping with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings when she made her debut on PBS’ “Austin City Limits” (Season 35.) and had the thrill of her life when Bonnie Raitt joined her onstage for “The Road to Austin” concert film featuring Stephen Bruton and all his friends, got to play with James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins, and so many others at Antone’s, she and Erin Jaimes put together a benefit for Uncle John Turner and Johnny Winter insisted on bringing his band by to play, Carolyn’s wedding to A. Whitney Brown was officiated by Mike Nesmith (Monkees,) who serendipitously introduced them on set at VideoRanch in 2010. (there is video of the two of them on stage together that day!) She began co-writing with locals Sarah Brown, Shelley King, Marcia Ball, Ruthie Foster, Cindy Cashdollar, and Guy Forsyth; sat in with Los Lobos, Levon Helm, Vintage Trouble, Robert Earl Keen, and Ray Wylie Hubbard; and toured relentlessly for the past two decades, sometimes with luminaries like Dave Alvin, Buddy Guy and Johnny Winter, so far spreading her music in US, Europe, South America and Japan. She also claims membership in the all-girl Sis Deville, the gospel-infused Imperial Crown Golden Harmonizers, the Texas Guitar Women, and the Woodstock Lonestars. Carolyn recently joined John Mayall’s Band as his guitarist and is balancing life on the road with writing time at home and on the road. She’s been touring for over 25 years and clearly ain’t done yet. Come see why at a show! (seriously, she’s perpetually on tour.) * From Carolynwonderland.com G-Note Entertainment Magazine had a nice conversation with Carolyn Wonderland about her musical journeys and that's ahead on the horizon. (After she got good reception on her phone.) Carolyn Wonderland is a musical tsunami that is often compared to the soulful Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt and the guitar skills of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Carolyn says “You know, I really don't mind being compared to those legends. It’s really pretty humbling to be honest with you. Those are mighty big shoe to fill and I have little feet!” Carolyn Wonderland goes deep into the Texas blues tradition with the pedal to the metal. She commands the stage with passion and presence, she does indeed fill the shoes of the artists she gets compared to. @GNoteEntertainmentMagazine 19 | P a g e www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz

Carolyn grew up the child of a singer in a band and began playing her mother’s vintage Martin guitar and she told me when I asked her about not using a pick to play the guitar, she said” That's right, I don't use a pick because I got grounded from my mother when I scratched her Martin guitar by using a pick.” Was it hard to play your guitar without using a pick? “Oh yeah, I really had to focus and think about every note being strum or plucked. In hindsight, it worked out pretty good for me.” One of the questions I just had to ask her was about her marriage to actor / comedian and SNL alum A. Whitney Brown. And being married by none other than Monkee original guitarist, Mike Nesmith. Carolyn told me “Yeah, me and Whit had met Mike on set at one of his video ranches. He introduced us to each other and before you know it, we were getting married and Mike Nesmith had offered to officiate the ceremony, and we hell yeah! I think Whit had paid the $20 or so for him to be ordained online. Nesmith came down to Austin Texas and we got married.” “I was dressed in white, and barefoot; Whitney was looking in in dress casual clothes and it was all of 15 minutes, we do-let's go get Tequila. It was a hoot and a great experience. I like those kinds of weddings. My brother had the 3-hour Catholic wedding. It was cool, but I liked my style of wedding better!” Carolyn, do you want to talk a little about your early 'rebel' days? “Sure, I didn't have to try too hard to get kicked out of school. At the time, I was in high school outside Houston it was the height of the 'Satanic Panic' or whatever. I got in trouble for leading a protesting and things like that.” “It's funny, but I remember I was like 17, and I was going to the school board with my 'Roberts Rules Of Orders' in my hand and all excited because I was going to show them that I was all prepared and talk about legal precedent and whatnot. I was just ready for them, then they opened the meeting talking about how Satan was infiltrating our schools, and I'm thinking 'shit' I brought the wrong book!” Was it that rebel side of you caused you to be homeless for a while? “Yeah it did, it shaped me, and it definitely got me ready for touring because I knew that there would be showers involved. (Chuckling) You know it prepares for the long stretches on the road and after a while you get this empty nest syndrome from my van, I always felt safe and sheltered in my van.” Is all the travel and all that goes with it the worst part of being a touring musician? “I think so, you don't eat right, you don't sleep right, you have to unpack and reload after shows and the long drives after a bit kinda wears on you. Like now, I broke a toe, can't do anything about it, it's just the way it is. But I'll also say that when we all travel together, we all have each other’s back and that helps a lot.” “As musicians, we always look for that perfect balance of travel life and home life. You don't want to be out so long on the road to where it's becomes bad and you miss your life and you don't want to home so much to wear you don't want to stay there all of the time. It's tough, but you do the best you can.” I read where you like to write song in the quiet of the night when you are driving you van from gig to gig can you talk about that? “I am a creature of the night! Don't care much for the daytime or sunshine so when the band is sleeping or being quiet and there isn't anything I want to hear on the radio, I'll focus on something and will sing about a star, or something, I do get creative like that because I do like the chance to just think and sometimes you just go fishing for songs or song ideas but now my new thing is “Haiku”, Remember that from elementary school? The 3 lines of 5 -7- 5 words that make a story, it's not as easy as you might think but it sure is a lot of fun and opens a bunch of other stuff, I really like it.” That could be something you do when you get home, you collect all your Haiku and you publish them? What do you think about that? “Well, probably not, I really like to paint when I get home, I'm not very good at it but I like to do it. “Wha2t0is| tPhea sguebject topics you paint, is it people or landscapes? “Ah, it's more “psychedelic” You know, the inner Carolwynw, wit'.sGh-aNrdoteoEenxptelarintayionumjeunstth.baivze to see it to get it. It starts as a them@eG, bNuottitebEenctoemrteasisnommeenthtMingagealszei.n”e

When you are on the road, does your husband travel with you? “Sometimes, lately he has been getting into gardening and really into hot peppers. It delicious! We can out on tour take some of his sauce (one drop only) and put it on some food but it's just enough to liven it up!” Carolyn, does talent win or does marketing win in the music industry? “Oh, tough one, that can be subjective everyone does their thing -some folks musicians speak to and some folks they don't. Some of my friends do not understand why I love Bob Dylan's voice. But I've learned to accept what people like and don't like with singers. Everyone has their like and dislikes about singers. When you get home after this 9-week tour, are you going to go check out live music in your area? “Hard to say, maybe, I'll bet you I stay on the couch for a few days!” Carolyn, what is the one thing that people would be surprised to know about you? “I'm not really not all of that interesting, but I can crochet a hat in half of an afternoon!” @GNoteEntertainmentMagazine 21 | P a g e www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz

Guitarist Mark Morton states, “This year, LAMB OF GOD will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the release of our third studio album, Ashes Of The Wake. As I recall that moment in time, it was a pivotal point for our band. We were transitioning from the relative comfort of an underground scene that we felt confident and natural in, to a much higher profile with higher stakes and more critical eyes upon us. It was our first release on a major label and our first to be aggressively marketed through mainstream channels. I remember feeling a mixture of pressure and confidence, along with a pervasive uncertainly as to whether our brand of bottled insanity would translate to a larger audience. Ultimately, I think our biggest strength in that situation was that we never let pressure, expectation or the potential for failure effect our creative process. We stepped up our collective focus and concentration to rise to the occasion, but we stuck together and stayed true to our identity, artistically and otherwise. That tunnel vision approach to our creative process is part of our DNA as a band. I believe it’s a large part of what keeps us honest and motivated to this day. For Ashes Of The Wake to be remembered and celebrated 15 years later is a true honor. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that it is incredibly special to know that these songs have touched people’s lives in a positive way and that they a2r2e|sPtilal rgeelevant so many years later. New Music Alert: Albert Castiglia Gulf Coast Records is excited to announce the signing of Contemporary Blues Artist Albert Castiglia. Albert’s new release MASTERPIECE was recorded at MARZ Studio in Nederland, Texas with musician/producer Mike Zito. “Albert Castiglia is pure emotion. He wears his heart on his sleeve and lets his guitar do the talking”, says Zito. Masterpiece is a raw, deeply personal album for Albert who recently lost his grandmother but simultaneously discovered he had a daughter. This significant life altering event was the springboard for Albert to hone his songwriting skills on Masterpiece with nine deeply meaningful original songs. Mike Zito and Guy Hale, founders of Gulf Coast Records, knew instantly that Masterpiece was exactly the type of record we wanted on our label. We are extremely proud to add Albert Castiglia on Gulf Coast Records’ growing roster of artists and look forward to releasing this ground-breaking new album. “Masterpiece” is the pinnacle in a career that’s just taking form, it is his best and most personal work to date. I’m proud of this album and proud to call him one of my closest friends. — Mike Zito Guitarist, singer and songwriter Albert Castiglia [pronounced ka - steel - ya] was born in New York City on August 12, 1969, the son of a Cuban mother and an Italian father. He moved with his family to Miami, when he was five years old and began learning the guitar seven years later. Fast forward to 1996 when Albert hit the international radar after meeting the legendary Junior Wells. Mentored by Junior Wells, he toured for several years alongside the iconic harp player right up until Wells' passing in 1998. \"It was an incredible adventure,\" recalls Castiglia. \"Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be a Chicago bluesman. Junior opened the door for me to do that.” Albert then joined the great Atlanta vocalist Sandra Hall and toured nationally. In 2001, Albert returned to South Florida from Chicago to start his solo career. Since that time, Albert Castiglia has toured the US & Europe extensively, released 8 solo albums, and most recently in 2017 was nominated for a Blues Music Award for Rock Blues Album and Contemporary Blues Male Artist. 23 | P a g e @GNot eEnter t ainm en tMaaglabzeirntceastiglia.net gulfcoastrecords.newtw w.G- Not eEntert ai nmen t.biz

New Music Alert: Mike Zito No stranger to music audiences worldwide, Zito won Blues Rock Artist of the Year last May at the 2018 Blues Music Awards in Memphis, the 'Grammys of the Blues.' Additionally, Zito's First Class Life album reached #1 on the National Roots Music Report Top 50 Blues Albums Chart and a Top 10 Rockin' Blues Tunes of 2018 nod from Rock And Blues Muse for Mike's song \"Mama Don't Like No Wah-Wah,\" who wrote the track is \"Blues and funky fun with some outstanding guitar playing.\" \"This is Southern Blues with real heart and a lot of soul, some stunning guitar work and playing of the first order,\" Music-News.com in the UK writes about First Class Life. \"Good Blues is not common – there is plenty of very ordinary Blues but very few artists as good as Zito.\" NO DEPRESSION raved, \"Once again, Zito has delivered the goods, a first-class package with no postage due.\" Zito recently launched his own new label, Gulf Coast Records, which counts among its artists, Albert Castiglia, Tony Campanella, Diana Rein, and others to soon be announced. There may not be a more honest blues-man than Mike Zito, whose fifteenth album ‘First Class Life’ is released May 11 on Ruf Records. The rocking-yet-poignant title track explores his journey from addiction to sobriety and then musical recognition: Zito is a two-time 2017 Blues Music Award nominee. “Second chance at a first- class life,” he sings, recalling the hard times. The Texas-based musician smiles and continues, “I grew up poor in St. Louis, and now I'm traveling the world to sing my songs.” Zito’s star has been on the rise of late, both solo and as a member of the Royal Southern Brotherhood, with band-mates Cyril Neville, Devon Allman, Charlie Wooton and Yonrico Scott. Spring of 2018 saw Zito team with noted guitar master (and Ruf Records label-mate) Bernard Allison, on the \"Blues Caravan\" Tour that performed in Germany, England, Poland, The Netherlands and Belgium. As is fitting for a man with the word “Blues” tattooed across his picking hand, ‘First Class Life’ focuses squarely on blues with heart and chops to spare, not to mention wit and openness. The punchy “Time For A Change” conjures the tension in the world today while the exquisite Memphis-style song, “The World We Live In,” recalls BB King in its world-weariness. The electrified blues bounce of “Dying Day” finds Zito swearing lifelong allegiance to his wife. “Old Black Graveyard” sets the scene of a blues-man's’s final resting place and its disrepair, along with some possible supernatural influences, with Zito’s masterful slide guitar flo2u7r|isPheasg e driving [email protected] t ainm en tMagazine www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz

New Music Alert: B.B. King Blues Band The B.B. King Blues Band - Some Background Long live The King. Four years after the passing of the great B.B. King, his towering influence over the blues world, and beyond, remains undimmed. King’s music will never be forgotten, and this year, the iconic bluesman’s presence is felt stronger than ever, as his spirit imbues a star-studded new album by The B.B. King Blues Band, The Soul of the King. The first single from the album, \"Irene\" features guests’ artists Russell Jackson and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Bandleader James ‘Boogaloo’ Bolden says, “’Irene Irene’ is a song about strong emotions that become complicated and indecisive. Thanks Kenny Wayne Shepherd for your outstanding guitar work.” In addition to Shepherd, The Soul of the King also features Taj Mahal, Joe Louis Walker, Michael Lee and Kenny Neal. Recorded at Hollywood’s Paramount Studios and Houston’s Lucky Run Studios, The Soul Of The King finds The B.B. King Blues Band writing ten of the thirteen tracks that stand alongside their late leader’s catalog. There’s the addictive brass-bolstered shuffle of “Low Down,” the slow-burn balladry of “She’s The One,” the spring-heeled funk of “Taking Care of Business,” and trumpet legend James ‘Boogaloo’ Bolden’s own “Hey There Pretty Woman.” Joe Louis Walker gives a soulful tip of the hat on “Regal Blues.” There’s a heartfelt turn from Michael Lee on “The Thrill Is Gone.” Mary Griffin and Taj Mahal combine their vocal and guitar talents on “Paying The Cost To Be The Boss.” Kenny Neal lends poignant vocals and licks to “Sweet Little Angel.” And then there’s Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s masterful solo on the opening track “Irene Irene” that the King would surely approve of. The members of The B.B. King Blues Band are all lifers, some of the members clocking in at 35 years. Not only did they support King, but they would start each show by performing onstage before B.B. came out. After King passed, the band was naturally at a loss until they started playing some festivals and eventually got their footing back. The current lineup includes Michael Lee (Lead Vocals. Artist Feature: KID ROCK Kid Rock is currently out on tour with a stop in Michigan at DTE Energy Music Theatre on Sept. 6th & & 7th and Sept. 13th & 14th. Kid Rock burst onto the music scene in 1998 with his Devil Without a Cause album and hasn't looked back. From hit singles like “Bawitdaba” and “Cowboy” to “Picture” and “All Summer Long,” the recording artist has blazed his own trail in the music world, having sold over 26 million albums to date and continuing tour. Kid Rock holds the Michigan record for most tickets sold with 150,000 for a run of ten consecutive sold-out shows, and recently set the Little Caesars Arena attendance record in his hometown of Detroit with 86,893 attendees in six sold-out shows. Kid Rock’s musical journey is one that has encompassed underground Detroit rap, heavy metal and country rock, and by finding the perfect blend of all three, he turned an underwhelming career into a huge success. From early controversy over sexualized lyrics to selling 35 million records worldwide and marrying (and divorcing) Pamela Anderson, it’s been a wild ride for one of the wild men of rap. Kid Rock was born Robert James Ritchie on January 17, 1971, in Romeo, Michigan, a small rural town north of the Detroit metro area. His father was a car dealer who owned a six-acre orchard where the young Ritchie would work along with his three siblings. He became interested in hip hop in the 1980s, joining a breakdance crew and teaching himself to rap and DJ. From there he began performing at local parties as part of a rap group called The Beast Crew and met D-Nice, a member of KRS-One’s Boogie Down Productions. This led to an opening slot at a BDP concert, and D-Nice3,7w|hPo awgase signed to@JiGveNRoetceoErdnst,ehretlapiendmKeidntRMocakglaaznidnae deal with the same label. www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz

Heavily influenced by the Beastie Boys and their classic Licensed to Ill, Kid Rock’s debut, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, was released in 1990. Rolling Stone would later include it in a list of \"20 terrible debut albums by great artists,\" criticizing it for being “so insistently generic it’s like he tossed everything current about hip hop in 1990 into a giant colander and sifted out all the individuality.” With production from Too Short and D-Nice, it achieved notoriety when an uncensored version of the album’s single \"Yo-Da-Lin in the Valley\" — a paean to oral sex — was played on a college radio station, leading to an FCC fine. Rock was released from his contract by Jive shortly afterwards. His next two albums The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp (1996) contained lyrics too filthy to play on the radio, but relentless touring and a gift for self-promotion earned Kid Rock a cult following. He’d also started to lean more heavily on country and rock in his samples, and decided to form his own band, Twisted Brown Trucker. He then signed to Atlantic Records, and in 1998 his fourth album, Devil Without a Cause, sold over 14 million copies in the wake of his breakthrough single, \"Bawitdaba.\" “We got such a diverse record,” Rock told an interviewer on its release. “I’m kicking old school rap songs and then I do a metal thing.” He started to open tours, and his Woodstock 1999 performance gave him even more exposure. Despite his 10 years as an artist, he was nominated for the best new artist award at the Grammys in 2000 — one of two nominations he failed to win that year. His band member Joseph \"Joe C\" Calleja died in his sleep in 2000 — he had suffered most of his life from celiac disease — but Rock was able to keep the momentum going after a slow start on 2001's Cocky, thanks in large part to the crossover country ballad \"Picture,\" which featured Sheryl Crow. The album featured more ballads than Devil Without a Cause, signaling another slight shift in sound. It sold more than 5 million copies, with Entertainment Weekly’s Rob Brunner calling it a “blend of low-rider hip-hop and strip-mall heavy metal.” His self-titled Kid Rock album in 2003 was Ritchie’s last long-player that was recognizably hip hop. By early 2004 he was embroiled in controversy when he performed at the Super Bowl XXXVIII wearing a poncho made from the American flag. He was criticized by some groups for desecrating the flag, but much of the furor was ignored because of the bigger clamor around Janet Jackson's \"wardrobe malfunction\" during the same show. Rock n Roll Jesus (2007) said goodbye to hip hop and hello to Kid Rock’s first ever No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, selling over 5 million copies. He went even more country on 2010’s Born Free, produced by Rick Rubin and featuring Sheryl Crow and Bob Seger. Rebel Soul in 2012 was a reunion with the Twisted Brown Truckers band and his last album for Atlantic Records. His most recent release, First Kiss, came out on Warner Bros. Records in February 2015. Kid Rock's personal life has overshadowed his career at times. He began dating the former Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson in 2001. They became engaged in April 2002, ended their relationship in 2003, then reunited and married in July of 2006. Four months later both he and Anderson filed for divorce. *The Biography.com website 38 | P a g e @GNoteEntertainmentMagazine www.G-NoteEntertainment.biz
