Communism For Dummies By: Caleb Sidoroff
Collectivism Collectivism is the practice of a government where they put the needs and goals of the collective in front of the need/goals of the individual people. This ideology uses the idea of interdependence of human society
Communism/Marxism Marxism originated from a man named Karl Marx. His idea was that the working class (proletariat) should overthrow the the capitalist class (bourgeoisie) and then establish a classless society where all property would be owned by the state. The people of Russia voted for this leadership because they were in a recession and it would allow them to get millions of jobs. Stalin was able to create 4 million jobs in the span of a few years because of his forceful and rapid industrialization. An example of Marxism and communism is Stalin in 1922 when he came to power. Stalin once said “Death is the solution to all problems. No man - no problem.” Stalin used Marxism, but he took it to an extreme where he took control and killed/purged his opposition. Today we can see Marxism in the form of North Korea. North Korea is a communist country in today's setting, led by Kim Jong-Un. Kim leads the country with terror, fear and isolation. Kim will kill and torture his people in order to keep his people from learning what life could be like in North Korea.
Utopian Socialism Utopian socialism is a peaceful surrender of the capitalist companies to the people. This allows for a country to live in total utopia where everything belongs to the state, but is given to the people. Unlike in a communist state a utopian society is all state owned, but all government officials are voted for. The people of a utopian society are treated fairly and with respect instead of neglected and forgotten about like in the industrial revolution. An example of utopian socialism in today's society is Norway and their leader Jonas Gahr Støre. The country of Norway has its own elected government where everything is state owned even homes. The government taxes the people 60 percent of their income for a rainy day fund which allows them to have 0 debt and the ability to fund the next 30 generations incase of an emergency. In the past there have been a few examples of utopian socialism one Robert owen and his creation of the utopian socialism in New Lanark and Scotland. He created this to allow the people in the area to have shorter work day (10 hours instead of 16) and better working conditions for the workers in the factory.
Central/Moderate Central governments control the companies by giving the workers good hours and fair pay. They also control the laws of the country, but let the people decide what gets produced and how. This economy is a mixture of capitalism and socialism.
Liberalism Liberalism is an ideology based on on the importance of individual rights and freedoms. Liberalism in centered in the ideology spectrum, which means it has both the beliefs of protecting people's individualism and having the government control lots of laws. The government has involvement in the community/nation. An example of Liberalism is Canada. Canada has not always been a liberal country, it used to be an absolute monarchy ruled by the queen, until we gained our independence on July 1, 1867. Since then Canada has voted for their representatives, usually being a part of the conservative or liberal parties. Canada's leader in 2021 is Justin Trudeau. He has been in office since 2015 and since canada has no rule about terms he has the possibility to run for prime minister for the rest of his life. The use of liberalism was first used in Spain where their people fought for liberalism to be apart of their 1812 constitution. Spain is now ruled under constitutional monarchy. Meaning they are ruled by a king or queen, but they also have their own government, much like Canada and the UK.
Conservatism/Capitalism This system is based on free market, meaning that the people have most of the say in the economy. Supply and demand controls what will be made and how it will be made. The cheaper the product the better for the companies. The government has almost no say in what happens besides the well being of the people and their working conditions.
Conservative/Individualism Conservatism is the idea that the government should only have the role of protecting people's rights and freedoms. Individualism is exactly like it sounds, the individual rules it. Companies and product are controlled by the people and supply and demand. The government has the power to control companies in the way of giving people fair working conditions and working hours/pay. An amazing example of individualism is U.S.A. The United States is individualism because of their past beliefs. They used to be ruled by the queen/king of Britain so they believed that when they moved out of their power that they should create the U.S.A into an individual country so the people are not ruled by a lot of government. Back in world war 2 the president was (RDJ) Franklin D. Roosevelt. RDJ was the man to lead the USA out of the great depression with his three r’s initiative. RDJ took over presidency from Hoover who, during the great depression believed that the people should be left alone and everything would fix itself. The president of the U.S.A today is Joe Biden. Joe is 78 years old and has been in office since January 20, 2021. The past leaders of U.S.A have all been men and the first president was George Washington in 1789. Since U.S.A’s separation from the UK they have been individual.
Fasism Fascim is an authoritarian system of government that includes extreme militarism. The government controls everything that will be made and the companies, but they do not decide how the products will be made.
Fascism In Nazi Germany the government was able to control all production and what they made, but they granted the company owners the freedom to choose how to make it and what to make it out of. Hitler was able to keep his economy under full authority while also giving his people the belief that they were free. Hitler was the leader of the Nazi party in 1933 by being sworn into the role of chancler of Germany. Once the old leader of Germany died Hitler became Führer. With this power Hitler became the leader of Germany's government and the military. In today's society there is no country that uses fascism. This is because in today's society there is almost no one who believes that a country should have the government control everything while killing thousands to expand their thoughts and beliefs. There is groups of neo Nazis in the world, but the government of today's land would never allows any of them to rise to power again
