CPCS PLANT OPERATIONS CPCS stands for 'Construction Plant Competence Scheme' - the scheme was developed to prove the skills of those that either operate or work around plant machinery. Formally run by the CITB 'Construction Industry Training Board', the scheme is now owned and managed by NOCN. The CPCS scheme has historically been recognised by Build UK Contractors (formally UKCG) among many other as the preferred carding scheme to comply with codes of practice for competence and certification. The scheme provides a registration card scheme acknowledged by industry for those involved in plant operations by recognising skills, knowledge and understanding, competence and qualifications. It is based on a mix of occupational competence, experience on site and health and safety awareness - three essential qualities for operating plant machinery safely and effectively. The CPCS test consists of a one-to-one theoretical assessment (around 1 hour, category dependant) followed by a practical examination. The CPCS theory test is tape recorded by a CPCS testers and interpreters are available upon request. LOCATIONS ATO Training operate from our CPCS training facilities in the Bedford and Northampton area, with additional CPCS training courses run from Doncaster. NPORS Plant Operations The NPORS National Plant Operators Registration Scheme is now one of the UK's leading carding schemes The NPORS schemes and has now become a Build UK (formally UKCG) ‘accepted record scheme’, meaning that it is recognised as being equivalent to CPCS. NPORS cards can also be CSCS embossed at request in the same way that CPCS cards are. This was done as part of a drive to bring all card schemes under a ‘one logo’ policy, making employers able to easily validate schemes and cards. NPORS offers flexibility that the CPCS alternative doesn't, whilst maintaining standards both nationally and internationally by working closely with industry and Accredited Training Providers. The scheme offers accredited training much like CPCS and also offers registration and verification, much in the same way that EUSR PLUS does. The carding scheme was formed in 1992, and whilst not new is now quickly becoming one of the most recognised carding schemes in the UK. All NPORS training and assessments can be delivered at the client’s location enabling ATO to cover the full length and breadth of the UK, this of course has the additional benefit of reducing downtime on site as candidates aren't having to be released for examination purposes as they may need to with the CPCS alternative. NVQ’s - NATIONAL VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's) are based on national occupational standards. These standards are statements of performance that describe what competent people in a particular occupation are expected to be able to do. They cover all the main aspects of an occupation including current best practice and safety requirements and the knowledge and understanding that underpin competent performance. Our NVQ's are delivered at your discretion and are designed to provide minimal disruption to the learner and your business; the entire process is delivered on site avoiding any unnecessary downtime. NVQ's are evidence-based and our time served assessors will guide learners through the entire process, assisting in collating any job-specific evidence and mapping this to the standards set out by the relevant awarding body. The duration of the NVQ is very much learner-lead and subject to evidence held on record and tasks currently being carried out on site on a day-to-day basis, understandably it is important that all learners are actively working in their occupation in order to be able to complete. Completing an NVQ will allow you up to acquire one of the following: CPCS - upgrade to a Competent Operator Card NPORS - upgrade to a Competent Operator Card CSCS - obtain a relevant Skilled Worker, Supervisor or Manager card .NVQ’s - PLANT & LIFTING OPERATIONS The following NVQ qualifications will allow candidates to upgrade their Red Trained Operator Cards to NPORS or CPCS Blue Competent Operator Cards: Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction) - Compacting CPCS Categories this relates to: A31, A32 Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction) - Cranes CPCS Categories this relates to: A20, A36, A39, A63, A64 Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction) - Excavating CPCS Categories this relates to: A21, A23 Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction) - Extracting CPCS Categories this relates to: A21, A23, A37, A41 Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction) - Fork-lift Trucks CPCS Categories this relates to: A14, A16, A15, A17, A18 Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Operations (Construction) - Constructing and Forming Plant CPCS Categories this relates to: Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction) - Loading and Securing CPCS Categories this relates to: A49, A50
