Welcome to EdVenture Club-Summer!EdVenture Club-Summer is an exciting and engaging summer camp program forstudents who have completed Kindergarten through fifth grade by June 2018.EdVenture Club-Summer, in its 26th year, provides weekly mini-camps five daysa week throughout the summer months and is conveniently located at: OtsegoElementary, Hassan & Rogers Elementary, Lincoln, Meadowvale & Twin LakesElementary and Zimmerman (Location TBD). EdVenture Club-Summer featuresboth full-time and part-time options. Full-time allows your child to attend ourprogram five days a week from 6:00am to 6:00pm. Part-time allows you to planyour child’s care around your schedule. Youth will experience fun projects, hands-on learning, a weekly field trip and recreational activities while strengtheningrelationships in a structured, caring environment.Who can attend EdVenture Club-Summer?Students in public or private schools, in-district or out-of-district...everyone is welcome!Children must have completed grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 by June 2018.Why EdVenture Club-Summer and not daycare?The benefits of EdVenture Club-Summer include taking advantage of weekly field trips to exciting places, sharing time with friends of the sameage, new learning experiences, recreation activities and use of school facilities. EdVenture Club-Summer also qualifies as a tax deduction.Why attend EdVenture Club-Summer full-time, 5 days a week?EdVenture Club-Summer is an amazing experience for kids. Each week features a different mini-camp and a field trip that is included in thefull-time price. Children benefit from five days a week because they experience a fuller curriculum with hands-on experiences. They also haveopportunities for connecting with friends, choice time and endless opportunities with our “activity boxes.” As a bonus, when you sign up for a fullweek (more than six hours/day) the average daily rate is less than the part-time daily (less than six hours/day) rate.What is the benefit of using EdVenture Club-Summer part-time?Using EdVenture Club-Summer part-time is a flexible option to meet a family’s needs and is built to fit around your schedule. You can choose1-5 days per week and choose six hours or less per day for $25/day, or more than six hours a day for $36/day; fees include the weekly field tripif attending on the day of the field trip. Is your student attending summer Targeted Services or Special Ed-ESY? Our part-time EdVenture Club-Summer option conveniently wraps around their schedule.Tell me about your staff...All of our staff are ISD 728 School District employees who have gone through a comprehensive background check. In addition,they are CPR and First-Aid trained and have received numerous hours of training on child development, social skills, special-needs and more. Check out our website for bios and photos of our site leaders.Our staff are also selected because they truly enjoy working with children. Our staff are welcoming, caring individuals who encourageconnections with other children as well as other staff.What if my child has special needs?Please indicate on the Family Information Form or online student profile any special needs of your child such as health or medical concerns,allergies, medications, etc., and if your child has an IEP or receives special services during school. (NOTE: As a District 728 program, ourCommunity Education/EdVenture Club-Summer staff may share any necessary information with other District 728 staff that will assist staff inproviding the best experience for your child.)What will my child do at EdVenture Club-Summer?Each week features exciting new themes for students ranging from cooking, acting, music and more with students participating in academic andrecreation activities on a daily basis. Free time is also available each day. Classes are divided by grade level at a 1:15 staff-to-student ratio.

Are field trips included with EdVenture Club-Summer?EdVenture Club-Summer provides weekly field trips throughout the summer. Allstudents are automatically enrolled in weekly field trips if they are scheduled toattend EdVenture Club-Summer on the day of the field trip. Families not wantingto participate in a field trip can register their student to attend another site notgoing on a field trip for that day. EdVenture Club-Summer Swim Lessons 2018Another benefit to attending EdVenture Club-Summer is for your child to attend AmericanRed Cross swim lessons at no additional cost. We specifically set aside openingsfor our EdVenture Club-Summer youth to attend lessons for those in Level I-VI.Swimming lesson location is at the VandenBerge MS pool. Transportation by schoolbus will be provided; students attending Lincoln Elementary will walk to VandenBergeMS.Registration for attendance in EdVenture Club-Summer does not automatically enrollyour child in swim lessons. The swim registration form is included with this brochure. Youmust complete both the weekly attendance form and the swim registration form to enrollyour child in EdVenture Club-Summer swim lessons.SWIM LESSON LEVELS Level IV: Stroke ImprovementLevel I: Intro to Water Skills Level IV helps students improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front and back crawl) forLevel I helps students feel comfortable in the water and enjoy the greater distances. Students continue to build the butterfly stroke and bewater safely. Students learn elementary aquatic skills and develop introduced to the breaststroke, elementary backstroke, elements of thegood attitudes and safe practices around the water. sidestroke and basic turns. Student must have passed Level III.Level II: Fundamental Aquatic Skills Level V: Stroke RefinementThis level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Students Coordination and refinement of all the strokes: front crawl, backexplore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg motions on the crawl, butterfly, breaststroke and sidestroke are covered in Level V.front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes. This level adds Students will increase their distance and be introduced to flip turns.to skills begun in Level I. Student must have passed Level I. Student must have passed Level IV.Level III: Stroke Development Level VI: Swimming & Skill ProficiencyLevel III builds on the skills of Level II with guided practice. Students Level VI refines strokes so students swim with more ease, efficiency,will learn to coordinate the front and back crawl, elements of the power and smoothness over greater distances. This course includesbutterfly, treading water and rules for head-first entries. Student skills for life guarding, personal water safety and practices the pre-must have passed Level II. requisites for Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certification.
