History of Blue Mountains Back before the Europeans invaded the region, the Blue Mountains were inhabited by two major indigenous tribes; the Gundungurra and Darug Tribes. Although there isn't an exact date to the tribe's beginnings, it's estimated that their history stretches back tens of thousands of years.

The Blue Mountains is known for dramatic scenery. It has rugged sandstone tablelands, wilderness, valleys, waterfalls, rainforests, lookouts, canyons and so many wonderful walking trails. The Blue Mountains has so many lookouts, walks, towns, points of interests, flora and fauna it is impossible to cover them all.

Geo conservation efforts and research play an important role in protecting the World Heritage- listed landscapes and geology of Blue Mountains National Park. Rehabilitation and maintenance works is ongoing, to limit the impact of erosion, pollution and degradation to these ancient landscapes.
