I knew she was a special girl. When she jumpedinto my arms the first time we met in Canada, our bond was formed instantly. I tell everyone she popped out showing;because she loves it so much she was so easy to train. “Born to Show” really suits her. She loves every aspect of dogshows, but especially the “Meet and Greet,” starting with every show day seeing her Beardie buddies and their people;meeting new people not knowing what a “Beardie Is;” and seeing friends and supporters throughout each show day. On our back coverGCH Scott’s Lady LibertyGinger is from a once in a lifetimebreeding with Ray and KathyHarrington’s Zack, GCGP Dunhill’sSteeler Nation. She follows a longline of Scott dams who have excelledin the show ring. Ginger epitomizesstyle and grace. Her movement ispowerful yet effortless. She has abeautiful length of body and a stronglevel topline. Built to do work in thefield, Ginger prefers to do her realwork in the show ring. Our sincere appreciation to respectedjudge Mr. Peter Green for the honor ofBest of Breed at the 2018 WestminsterKennel Club. Carol Scott WathenEditor’s LetterWinter is upon us and we are looking forward to the Spring and upcoming events. However, Winter did have some veryinteresting shows including the AKC National Championship and Westminster Kennel Club. Congratulations to theBeardies, breeders and owners who claimed the top honors of Best of Breed and Best of Opposite in those events. Theyare listed in our Bulletin Board, and best of all, the Breed winners are featured on our front and back covers! We have included a six page Stud Dog section in this issue; they are listed in the order received. We also have photoessays for the Meet The Breeds events held in NYC with Westminster Kennel Club, and Orlando with the AKC NationalChampionship, and also the Arizona Holiday Beardie Bounce. Janet Atkins, Tammy Begler, Tracy Corey, Robin Deily,Chet Jezierski, Bob Lamm, Roberta Teller & Nancy Thompson supplied photos. We thank them for bringing these events to usvia their photos. As most of you know, our advertising and subscription bases have declined over the past few years as is the sport of PureBred Dog Shows. There are not enough of the younger generation participating in the breeding aspect of the sport; manyof us are in the twilight of dog breeding/showing. In order to have Beardies compete in agility, herding, obedience, rally, etc., we need to have breeders produce Beardies with correct structure and temperament. The Bulletin has been the vehicle that highlights and supports breeders. We have been able to continue to produce themagazine four times a year, with a color section for advertisers, highlight Specialties with additional editorial coverage, and publish editorial articles while maintaining advertising and subscription rates. If you enjoy your magazine and lookto it for information on your breed, then you need to financially support the magazine with articles and advertising. TheBulletin cannot compete with Facebook and the “right now” shots of accomplishments. The next time you post somethingon Facebook, think about sharing that with advertising in your magazine. The next issue will have a special feature for Brood Bitches, Puppies & Veterans. Email a photo of your beardie, with AKCregistered name, call name, sire & dam, date of birth and owner - it will appear in a collage format. The fee is $20 per dog. 7/9/2001 – 2/2/2017 It’s been a year — but seems like yesterday.Rachel Rachie ... There were many titles: Dual CH, HC, top titles in AHBA/ASCA herding and a handful of Top Herding Dog/Herding Dog of the Year awards at a young age. Plus, advanced agility titles and snagging your nursing license of RN. But, your greatest title was soul mate. There was a huge persona packed in that petite body of yours. You were incorrigible! Not a day goes by that we don’t think of you, Peanut. We were very blessed to have you in our lives. It would never have been long enough! Forever smitten ... Elaine & Bob Robinson

4th Annual ArizonaThe 2017 Beardie Bounce was our biggest and best Holiday Bounce with 35 dogs. We keepgrowing every year with people coming from all over Arizona and even Nevada. Wewelcome anyone who wants to join us!The dogs and families enjoyed a day full of sunshine, and a perfect 72-degree temperature. The backyard was full of happy, bouncing, romping, playing, barking Beardies for most ofthe day. They eventually stopped to rest but were back at it with the slightest movement fromany of them. There was so much food that it filled tables inside and out including a special table of just dogtreats. The dogs seemed to know when Aunt Lisa was near the table, and quickly gatheredaround to get their treats. They also seemed to know there was another table full of doggiegift bags for exchanging. While dogs and people mingled outside, Tracy Corey was busy taking photos of each of thefamilies inside by the Christmas tree and fireplace. Everyone went home with their photoson a custom designed Beardie flash drive. They also went home with a goodie bag filled withdog treats, Chuckit ball and launcher, and homemade Pomegranate jam made and broughtby Patty and Jeff Halverson from Nevada. The Arizona Holiday Bounce has become a wonderful day filled with happy Beardies andwonderful friends. If you are ever in Phoenix, check to see if a bounce is planned. If not, wecan always get a mini bounce together on a moments notice!
