In 2017 there were 283 qualifying legs earned by Beardies, a decreaseof 62 from 2016. To compute the award, all qualifying scores and placements of dogs in each class in the Novice, Intermediate,Advanced and Excellent levels of Rally were taken into consideration. The statistics were taken from the AKC customquarterly reports for Rally for 2017. As of November 1, 2017, the AKC added the Intermediate and Masters classes to Rally.Although there were qualifying legs in the Intermediate class, there were no qualifying legs in the Masters class for Beardies.Only members of the BCCA are eligible to receive the award, which will be presented this year at the 2018 National Specialtyin Sacramento, California.50 Volume 48, No. 1 Beardie Bulletin
To determine the “Top Dog” in each level of Rally, a point value is given to a dog’s placement under two systems: averagescore and Shuman. The point values under each of the two systems are accumulated during the year, and the dog with thehighest total in each level is awarded that year’s “Top Dog” in his/her particular level. The scoring system was based onthe methodology used for the “Top Dog” in obedience award. The top ten Beardies for 2017 in Rally Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Excellent are listed below.
