VARSHA RAO X B Subject Enrichment Activity PROJECT — 4 TASK: Re writing the folk tale with a different perspective.
Before you read. More about the folk tales and its importance. Folktales can be used to help children develop strong reading skills, study other cultures, model positive character traits, and discover a love of stories. Since folktales have been passed down through the oral tradition, they were honed for listening so they were easy to remember and share. As a result, folktales make it easier for children to differentiate characters, follow a plot line or recall a sequence of events. Not surprisingly, working with folktales can also help children develop the critical reading skills of phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension needed to meet the requirements defined in the Common Core Standards for Reading.Folktales also model the elements of effective decision-making and they also help in developing a good person with the morals that they teach in the end.
The Selfish Friendship. Back in the fifteenth century, let me tell you a story of a girl who was honest, kind, smart and loyal to others. She never cheated nor she let anyone ever cheat in her surroundings. Her name was Justine. Due to her honesty teachers used to give her extra marks in all subjects. One day Martha saw that she was getting marks for honesty. Then, the next day Martha became friends with Justine.
They started chatting became friends and ate lunch together. Then one day as all teachers trusted Justine, the class teacher gave her the cupboard key to keep it with her safely as she thought all people in the class were not trustworthy. Then one day before the exam night Martha went to Justin's house and told her that she wanted the cupboard keys so that she could cheat in the exam. But Justine refused her giving her the keys, Martha snatched it from her and set out for the school. When she opened the locker she saw there was nothing except a letter which said, “You fool ! I thought you were honest and trustworthy. But you are not ! caught you!”
Then suddenly the teacher came into the room and saw it was not Justine but it was Martha. Next day Martha was not allowed to write the exam and Justine broke friendship with Martha as she took advantage from her loyal friendship… Moral : We should never take advantage of our friends.A good friend will never ask us to do something that will harm us.
