Remote Teaching Update Dear Dellwood Family, I trust that you all are doing well as we continue to navigate through the Covid 19 pandemic. All parents/guardians will receive the revised Remote Teaching and Learning schedule that is to govern our academic plan from May 11th until June 15th, 2020. This revised plan will see teachers with an additional period of face time, new content will be taught, time for arranged tutorials, and specific times that students should be working independently on assignments. The school day has been extended slightly and will now end at 1:00 pm. In this newsletter parents will get an overview of the scales and content that will be taught by teachers during this new timeframe We do still have teachers and students that do not have access to remote teaching at this time. In the meantime, all teachers have prepared assignments for students to complete for the upcoming week and they will continue to do so moving forward. During the scheduled class time, students are to complete assignments. New assignments for these classes will be sent home to parents on Mondays for the week. Please ensure that students keep all completed work in a folder as teachers will provide feedback at some point. The classes /teachers affected at this time are: Music – Mr. Anthony Wolffe Drama – Ms. Nishanthi Bailey Reading – Ms. Cecily Richardson A Big Thank You to the parents that were able to join the PTSA meeting hosted by Mirrors on Thursday May 7th. It was an awe- some meeting and your feedback was timely and welcomed. I was able to share the feedback with the Dellwood staff and we have mitigated solutions to some of your concerns. Business Studies classes – The Business studies classes will remain somewhat large due to the fact that these teachers teach the entire school. To maximize the teaching and stay within the guidelines of the schedule, year levels are all taught together. Breakouts room will be used as well in the upcoming classes which will see smaller groups of students, however initially they will still be in the larger groups. Students that are struggling with Business Studies are encour- aged to reach out to their teachers for additional support. Office Hours – Teachers will be available for office hours. Please see the information included in this newsletter on how teachers can be reached during this time. I will also have office hours moving forward. These office hours are for face time only. Feel free to email me at any time. Principal Office Hours – Wednesday 12:30- 1:30, 6:00 – 7:00 by appointment only. Please email Mrs. Duke to confirm your appointment at [email protected] The return to school is still very much in the planning stage, with health and safety at the forefront of the plan. When more information is available, it will be shared with parents from the Commissioner of Education. We will be partnering with Mirrors to offer parent support with gaining access to the various platforms that our teachers and students are using so that parents can see what their children are doing. Information will be forthcoming when this is finalized. We understand many of you are working and have several children to help, financial concerns, health issues, etc. We are here to patiently support our students and you throughout this challenging time. We are going to do our best to provide schoolwork to keep our students' minds moving forward. But you are the parents and they are with you, so you have control to adjust as needed for your child/children. Again, contact your teacher, Year Advisor, or the Principal, if you need help. We also ask for your patience and understanding as we travel this new territory, together. In closing, we wish you and your family the very best. Please follow the health guidelines using social distancing and hygiene protocol. Remember, life will get back to normal eventually. Your Principal, Mrs. Tina Duke
