ON THE NATURE OF MATHEMATICS

MATHEMATICS: A LANGUAGE Why is mathematics considered a language? If we google ‘the definition of Mathematics meets all the possible language’, It all sums up to one: definitions we could think of as a It is a system of communication language. Mathematics is used as a that possesses generically means of communication and conventional symbols and expression of abstract concepts. sounds that employs grammar, Indeed, Mathematics is a universal syntax vocabulary, narrative, language. The grammar, syntax, and meaning, that is structured vocabulary, and the narratives and for the people who’ll use it, to meaning it possesses to structure an attain mutual comprehension equation are attached to the soundness and understanding. of symbols are widely the same throughout the world that lives within the world that we know. It is the only language that everyone in this world shares regardless of race and all personal identities.

It bridges math to all the possible realms in the world that is yet to be explored. Patterns are the leaps of evidence of divine creation. Mathematics is the building block that formulates conjecture through seeking out arrays of patterns. That’s why through the utilization of patterns, successful conjectures arise. As a metaphysical sphere, mathematics governs an abysmal exploration of the overarching profound ideas that govern this world. And to fuel such desire of mathematics to explore, patterns aid this. Patterns generally aid to developmental skills for mathematicians as it provides a sense of order in this chaotic world, that’s why indeed - Patterns are the heart of Mathematics.

TOOLMATHEMATICS AS A Wh y i is i t con s id e red as a t o o l in sol v n g p robl e m s eff ici en t l y ? Mathematics is a useful tool we can use in our daily lives as BY: ALESSANDRA we can apply the concepts wev’ e learned in real-life nICOLE mAGSICO situations. For example, Algebra can be used to help business owners and investors to calculate profit, while Geometry can be used to explain the science behind architecture all over the world. Furthermore, Death tolls from natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods can be estimated using statistics and probability. Through the use of Math, people can make sense of the world and solve complex, real-world problems. Additionally, Math helps us develop critical thinking skills, which helps us have better reasoning and analytical abilities. These skills are essential in efficiently solving problems we encounter in real life situations. It also provides us the opportunity to face different challenges by effectively combining the knowledge we have in a well-defined context.

APPLICATIONS TO REAL-LIFE PROBLEMS

Math is rooted in logic and reasoning How do you perceive it to be an important tool in dealing with practical problems in life? Math is everywhere. The problems people face can be different in a lot of ways. It may be simple or challenging depending on the circumstances. In dealing with practical problems, math can be used in a lot of different ways but it will always come down to using logic and reasoning. Examples of applying math in solving practical problems: weighing loss and gain of the choices that we make solving financial problems with basic arithmetic and statistics counting and deciding on a winner through votes

Examples would be savings, tithes and offerings, emergency funds, and transportation. As more expenses add up every year, it would become easier to manage assigning allocated percentages for it without completely disrupting the first assignment. It would take discipline to manage this and to make it into a habit but it surely will be rewarding. Mastering that management would be worth it and would be life-saving in many unforeseen situations.

miantdehc ies imo na- mtakiicngs Mathematics is used in almost every aspect of life. It also plays an important role in decision-making. The use of mathematics assists you to make an important decision based on numerical and measurable scale and not on personal beliefs and and opinions. Mathematics helps to rationalize the sifting of information and the balancing of alternatives inherent in any decision. How useful is mathematics in decision-making?

TO THE RESCUE: SOCIAL CHOICE THEORY IN TACKLING SOCIAL PROBLEMS Social choice theory comes to the rescue whenever conflicting volition arises with respect to one’s liberty. It ameliorates social problems as it justifies delineate ideas for the societal groups to utilize as it serves as a consolidation for the welfare of everyone. Social choice theory is a normative criterion that guides societal decisions and societal actions to remedy social problems through a form of a morally fair philosophy.

GAME THEORY IN THE FIELD OF MATHEMATICS Why is it relevant? Game theory is an essential tool for decision making processes since it provides tools for analyzing a set of circumstances or situations. Every individual has presumably used this at least once in their lives. A few of its applications are in economics, business, finance, and many more. By studying game theory, we are able to make an optimal decision for every situation that is given to us.

MATHEMATICS IN THE DIGITAL AGE Why is it relevant? First of all, mathematics is an integral part of our life that is why it will always be considered relevant regardless of what era we are in. For instance, in the digital era where technology and machines provide the capacity to disseminate information quickly and reduce manpower demands. Being aware that these technologies and machines developed with the help of mathematical concepts. Without these concepts, our lives would have been different today.

Mathematics sparks a creative renaissance

How can you apply the concepts you have learned in this course to your field? Engineering is a math-intensive field. The concepts discussed in this course are just the basics that are fundamental to understanding their advanced forms. Cryptography and coding may help me when it comes to programming; while natural sciences and art will be able to assist me in making creative pieces both in paper and CAD. There is no such thing as a 'useless' subject. Even though it's not entirely connected to the field a person chooses, what's important is the lessons learned. Who knows those things might be of use in the future, one way or another.

What are your views on learning the concepts discussed in this course? Are there topics/concepts that are too easy or too difficult to understand? In my opinion, the topics/concepts that were discussed throughout this course are essential information in understanding how mathematics is used in real-life situations. There were topics/concepts that were easier to understand than the other topics/concepts. Generally, the topics/concepts were manageable.
