It’s hard to believe, but I’ll have my 30th class reunion of Lafayette High School this year.” After she graduated, Holly went to college in North Carolina, but always knew she wanted to return to work and raise a family here. She bought her first house in Williamsburg as a single woman of 21. “It wasn’t easy, but I was determined,” she remembers. “I wanted to be near friends and family.” Family is very important to her and she feels extremely blessed to have been able to remain in close proximity to her loved ones. “I was widowed pretty young and don’t know how I could have made it through those tough times without their love and support.” Holly also has a large group of lifelong friends that she’s cherished throughout the years. Holly acutely misses her daughter, Kinsey, 27, now living on the West Coast. Kinsey is planning to return home to get married this year and hopes her mom will visit them near San Diego soon. Holly also plans to craft many of the decorations for her daughter’s wedding. Holly Miller is artistic in that she sees potential in things others might not consider useful. “I love going to yard sales and thrift stores. It’s a hobby of mine that I enjoy when I can find the time. I like to repurpose things or make old things new again.” Her vision and artistic eye also helps in her business when staging and using items a seller already has to their full potential. Holly has learned that life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. She started her real estate career working for the original developer of Ford’s Colony. Holly feels as if she had the advantage of watching Williamsburg’s explosive growth happen. “I worked there for almost 15 years before I came to Liz Moore in 2010, so I know that neighborhood well, along with many others, both new and old. I interviewed with a lot of brokers when I made my move, but none could compare to Liz.” Liz, in Holly’s opinion, has a marketing policy that is unique within the business. “We all work together so well here, and we all know that Liz is available to us day or night should we need help,” she says. “She is an advocate for her agents, not a competitor.” The unsurpassed marketing and attractive overall business model made the decision to join Liz’s team easy for Holly.
The relationship has been good for them both in every way. “Last year was a great year for me,” Holly says. “Most of my business is from my own sphere, referrals, and repeat clients. I’m very thankful to those that trust me and recommend me to their friends and family. They are definitely the key to my success!” Liz, in Holly’s opinion, has a marketing policy that is unique within the business. “We all work together so well here, and we all know that Liz is available to us day or night should we need help,” she says. “She is an advocate for her agents, not a competitor.” The unsurpassed marketing and attractive overall business model made the decision to join Liz’s team easy for Holly. I’m very thankful to those that trust me and recommend me to their friends and family. They are definitely the key to my success!” Holly holds a broker’s license in Virginia and is also certified as a Senior Real Estate Specialist. Some of her favorite transactions are first time homebuyers, and folks that are downsizing or moving into later stages of life. “These are emotional situations for different reasons. First time buyers need a lot of guidance and advice and I treat them all as I would family,” she says. At the opposite end of the client spectrum, senior transactions can be very difficult on the client and require a lot of patience and understanding. “Transitioning from a long time family home can be extremely stressful and intimidating, so I always try to look at these situations as I would for my own parents.” Her low-pressure, honest approach and ability to see things from the client’s perspective (whether buyer or seller) has worked very well for her. Holly’s policy of “It’s not always about closing a deal; it’s about what is best for the client at the end of the day!” has led to an enviable five-star rating on Zillow. From first home to downsizing for retirement, Holly wants her clients to be comfortable with each stage of their lives. The big home a retired couple wants to sell after twenty years can be repurposed to fit the growing young family who’s outgrown their starter home. She’s there to guide and support them all, a friend who has the experience to share in both joys and sorrows as they navigate life.
Congratulations, Holly!
