Rainmaker Spotlight: Karen Wolons Karen with friends and family - she loves to snow ski! A TRUE PRO With a background in mortgage banking and as a referral agent, when Karen WHO SEES Wolons became a REALTOR® in 2014 she had a wealth of knowledge and ALL THE experience to share with her clients and she hit the ground running. Karen’s knowledge, experience, and dedication paired with her love of helping others POSSIBILITIES quickly made her one of Liz Moore’s most successful REALTORS®. FOR HER Working in mortgage banking right out of college, Karen learned what a smart CLIENTS investment home buying can be. With husband Dave, retired military, the family moved often, and Karen learned about home renovation as they purchased homes to fix it up and then sell when they relocated. Karen and her husband were part of 13 real estate transactions before she became an agent! Needless to say, Karen’s wealth of knowledge of home improvement is a true asset to her clients when considering how they can improve a potential home. “I love people,” says Karen. “I love discussing my clients’ visions and talking about options and possibilities with them. It’s so rewarding to revisit them down the road and see the work they’ve done and realize that their vision has come to life. I’m so honored to be part of that.”
Her experience buying and selling her own homes left Karen with a passion for real estate. “I always knew I wanted to be in real estate. I waited until my youngest went to college before becoming a REALTOR® so I could fully dedicate my time to my clients. I am extremely responsive to my clients, this is a serious business for me.” Karen is very dedicated to her clients’ satisfaction and happiness. “I am always thinking about my clients and their properties. I truly want them to get exactly what they want from the transaction. I want them to be happy, even if that results in no transaction. I have some clients I’ve been working with for over a year and a half that aren’t ready yet, but they know I’m here for them when they are.” One of the keys to Karen’s success is being a good listener. “I prefer to look at homes with my clients. When we’re together, I ask a lot of questions. I find the more I’m able to listen to my client’s wants and needs, I’m able to help them discover what they are truly looking for and what is most important to them.” When she’s not with clients, Karen enjoys visiting her family in New England, snow skiing, and spending time on the river. Karen and Dave have been married for 28 years and share three adult children: Scott, 25, in Richmond, Megan, 23, in Savannah, Georgia, and Jeffrey, a senior at Virginia Tech. “When we moved here it was only supposed to be for two years,” says Karen. “My youngest started kindergarten here and we fell in love with the mild temperatures and beautiful area. Now we’ve lived in three different neighborhoods in Williamsburg and currently live on the water in Lanexa. It’s wonderful to have our kids come back and visit, often bringing their friends, to enjoy this property together as a family.” Living in a rural part of Williamsburg so close to the water can bring challenges during bad weather like hurricanes, but Karen doesn’t let that stand in the way of going the extra mile for her clients. Recently, a tree fell across the road near Karen’s house and she couldn’t get her car out to take her non-driving client to their closing. “I had a friend drop a car off on the other side of the tree at the end of my street and I was able to keep my commitment and take my client to their closing,” Going above and beyond is second nature to Karen, she does whatever it takes to get the job done. “I love having all of the options Liz Moore & Associates offers available for my clients,” says Karen. “Our marketing team takes a small idea I’ll have, and they turn it into a fabulous plan! The contact lists, marketing, staging, photography, pre-inspection, free classes, round tables... it all makes me a stronger REALTOR® for my clients.”
Congratulations, Karen!
