What’s New at Camco… Winter EditionA warm welcome to our winter edition of “What’s New” at Camco. As wecharge towards the end of the financial year and “silly” season, it seemsimportant to take time to look a little further ahead. Often the short term takespriority and the “perceived pressure” can result in a large slump in futureprojects post 30 June. It is also an excellent opportunity (once the 1st July rollsaround!) to reflect on the year that has been. The successes and the lessonslearnt that will serve you well as you plan the next 12 months and beyond. At Camco, we have merged well the “bread and butter” of our success with some larger and exciting newproject areas. We have seen the strong emergence of the 3 tier projects that we have long had in ourstructure. Facilities and Building Maintenance – generally smaller in dollar value and shorter in duration,Projects – Civil and Commercial Building projects up to the $1M mark, and Major Projects – largerInfrastructure projects in excess of $1M. In order to maintain high standards and the “Camco Brand”, we havehad to innovate in our organisation structure and add new skills through specialised resources. Whilst this hasbeen a steep learning curve, we believe we have developed the right system to ensure we provide ourclients with the excellent service they expect, whilst not losing sight of the “family feel” we pride ourselves on.As I always say, the key to this is good people, good staff, good subcontractors and of course, good clients.Relationships are what make the difference.…..Chris Goold, DirectorIn-house NewsAs winter creeps in, so does the more relaxed approach to exercise. Well not for thesededicated Camco employees....Mel, Vanessa, Greg & Regan braved the winter chill andgot up at the crack of dawn to participate in an Army Bootcamp. Camco was luckyenough (some may think unlucky) to be invited to participate in an Army style trainingexercise at the Keswick Army Barracks on behalf of the Australian Defence ForceReservists. We are a proud supporter and sponsor of the Defence Reserves, and it was afabulous opportunity for us to experience firsthand how our military are pushed throughtheir paces to maintain a certain fitness level. Revisiting their school days by participatingin the good old beep test to multiple push ups and sit ups and a good old game of tug ofwar they survived and have even signed on for next year. Well done guys, great effort!! Our Admin Team were given a short reprieve from their usual duties to be treated to a site excursion at one of our largest projects to date, the Wayville Showgrounds North West Development. It was a great opportunity for the team to gain an insight into how the job site operates, what goes on behind the scenes and how their administrative contributions are an integral part of completing any project successfully, safely, on time and within budget. Administration Team site excursions are looking to be a regular item on the agenda for Camco personnel, so keep an eye out for the next instalment to see where we go next…..

In-house News continued... Lastly, we would like to commemorate two employees on reaching their milestone Camco Anniversary’s since the last instalment. In April, Site Manager Michael Bruggemann celebrated a whopping 10 years with Camco and Leading Hand Neil Byrne reaching an equally admirable milestone celebrating 7 years with us. We are so lucky to have such loyal, hardworking team members and we really pride ourselves on building the culture that entices our employees to stay with us for the long haul. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication over the years and cheers to many more!Prequalification, Panels & AccreditationCamco is prequalified for conducting works for a number of entities. This process is continuing to grow and we are approved with thefollowing organisations:Organisation Prequalification Type CategoriesAPP Corporation Excavation, Civil Works & Erosion ControlCity of Burnside Transfield Services CMS-SA Multi Use List Minor Civil Works & Building Earthworks/Flood Mitigation, Pipes, Pumps & ConcreteCity of Mitcham Major Civil Works AllCity of Onkaparinga General Civil Works AllCity of Salisbury Minor Civil Works & Building Carpentry, Earthworks/Flood Mitigation, Minor Building & CivilDepartment of Planning, Transport General Building Contractor 3, 4, 4M& Infrastructure Trade Contractor – Civil Work 1, 2, 3, 4, 4M Roads & Bridges R2, B1, F15AGFMA/Facilities Services Preferred Contractor Breakdown & Preventative ServicesDistrict Council of Mount Barker Minor Civil Works Level 2JLL Preferred Subcontractor Maintenance & Repairs for the Golden Grove VillageBarossa Regional Procurement Minor Civil Works Paving (including Bluestone, Clay and Concrete Segmental),Group Concrete Works, Pavement Construction & Maintenance, Stormwater, Construction & Maintenance & PipelineSA Water Construction Services MaintenanceSpotlessTown of Walkerville Preferred Subcontractor Tiers 2 and 3UniSA Asset Management Panel Carpentry and Multi-trade Civil Works Panel All Prequalified contractor All Category 2 Innovation We are determined to continually enhance the way we operate be it on site or in the office by challenginghow we do things to find better, more effective and efficient solutions. CMS Update...In the last newsletter I mentioned the momentum at which this year started in terms ofproject and work volumes. This has continued over the last quarter and, while ourquality and commitment to safety and environment remain unwavering, there haveunfortunately been some minor incidents involving service strikes.Root cause analysis of these indicates that more often than not, the concern lies withunclear infrastructure locations. While the sample size is not significant (11 incidents –none serious) in 8 of those (73%), despite the services being identified, locationsmarked out, and pot-holing completed, other “unknown” services were found.Service strikes were a focus of our safety management system a few years ago and it seems to have comearound full circle. We will again address these as a matter of priority over the coming months with the aim ofonce again minimising service strikes. Also stated previously, Camco is due for recertification this year and the formal audit is booked for the end ofJune. I look forward to reporting a favourable outcome on this in the next edition.Employment ProgramsAs many would already know, Camco is registered with the Industry Capability Network (ICN), and the SAGovernment, Department of State Development, Traineeship and Apprenticeship Service. As part of our commitment to providing employment opportunities, we have provided work experienceplacements for a number of trainees in the last few years and also provided casual employment on acontract by contract basis for identified trainees through Renewal SA’s, Training and Employment Initiativesand more recently, a similar initiative through the City of Playford. These programs have provided Camco an opportunity to assist some very keen candidates to gain valuable experience, and I’m pleased to say we have actually retained 2 people on longer term employment given their commitment and willingness to learn. We sincerely believe in the value of these initiatives and will continue to participate and whenever possible, provide similar opportunities for other willing participants.Inner Sanctum G e tting to kn o w m e .......Matt Tomney — Leading HandCamco family member since - May 2014Family Life – Married with two girls aged 3 & 6Successful Achievements - Having two happy, healthy childrenLoves – Sport, fishing and the oceanBest place travelled/visited - VanuatuLooking forward to – Christmas Holidays and going away with familyFavourite Food – Steak with chips & plain gravySporting Team you support – The CrowsBest thing about working with Camco – The guys/gals that I work with Camco is currently accredited to:- ISO9001:2008 – Quality ManagementAS/NZS 4801:2010 – Health & Safety Management ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management

In the Community... On Tuesday 2nd May, Camco held an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea (in the afternoon) to raise money for the Cancer Council and those who are affected by this debilitating disease. Site and office employees rallied in abundance and dug deep for such an amazing cause, and Camco were very generous in not only supplying the delicious delicacies on offer but to also match dollar for dollar on the total, doubling the amount that was raised. Thanks to all involved in making this such a success!Camco has signed on as a sponsor for the Noarlunga Football Club, affectionately known as “The Shoes”. The Noarlunga Football Club is avibrant, family & community orientated football club which has capturedthe spirit and enthusiasm of hundreds of new residents who have movedinto the area resulting from the many new developments. We wish them allthe best on their 2017 season and hope they come away with the flag. What’s New....Royal Adelaide Showgrounds, NW Development, Royal Adelaide Horticultural SocietyThe Royal Adelaide Showgrounds North-Western corner is the largest significant hard surface upgradeundertaken by the Royal Adelaide Horticultural Society in the past decade. The project presented manychallenges to construction including; the scale of the worksite, the condensed construction period, the highlevel of quality finishes and the interaction with a “live” site. These challenges were managed through carefulproject pre-planning, constant progress and program management, innovative construction methods such asmachine laid spoondrain and kerb and ongoing interaction with the site users to ensure access wasmaintained where possible. The project brief was the full reconstruction of all existing pavements (hard and soft) and upgrades to allservices in the North-Western corner of the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds. The project scope included; thedemolition of all existing pavements (30,000m2 of bitumen, concrete and soft landscapes), demolition ofthree existing buildings, isolation and renewal of all existing services infrastructure (electrical HV/LV,communications, potable water, fire ring main and gas), construction of a new stormwater drainage networkand connection to the existing drainage network, supply and installation of new granular pavements andbitumen surface (15,000m2), supply and installation of block paving (10,000m2 of “Trihex” pavers),construction of new soft landscapes, irrigation and furniture.

What’s New Continued....Willunga Main Street Upgrade, City of OnkaparingaThe scope of this project comprises the upgrade to thestreetscape on High Street and Main Road in the southerntownship of Willunga. Works are predominately betweenthe kerb line and the building façade; however there aresome new elements located within the main roadway. Theexisting footpaths have been removed and new surfacesare being laid. Sections of damaged kerbing have beenremoved and replaced with “exposed aggregate” kerbingto match the worn look as closely as possible.Slate paving bands are being incorporated into the newfootpath, some with brass inlay containing historic orfigurative information relevant to the adjacent buildings.Clay brick paving is also being installed in significant locations throughout the project. Local artists havecommenced manufacturing and installing street art throughout the verges, utilising items and landmarks froma different era. There are five major intersections within the work zone that will have Cobblestone PavingThresholds installed. The use of locally sourced materials has been high on the agenda throughout the design phase and now into construction. Local Willunga slate is being used for walling and flooring, Australian hardwood timbers for decking and retaining structures. Throughout construction a high emphasis was placed on the quality of workmanship and finishes, all of which is starting to come together now we are over half way into the build. Various elements of the design have been modified as we progress, due to adapting to site conditions. For example, slate kerbing was constructed instead of concrete to avoid compromising tree roots, alterations to drainage elements to better direct flows away from pedestrian movements. The township is a hive of activity throughout the working week, also on weekends and afterhours. Work practices are being tailored to help minimise disruption as much as possible to the local community, whilst still achieving the high standards expected.
