Issue 10 - Jan 2021 Christ The King Knanaya Catholic Church, New Jersey Inside this Issue 67 Fitch St, Carteret, NJ 07008 - Pastor's Desk - Faith Corner Dear All in Christ, - Goodbye 2020 After a busy month God blessed us to enter into a New Year. - Family Bible Quiz Through the \"SNEHADUTH\" God gave me a chance to - Kids Corner visit all your houses with infant Jesus and St Joseph. During - All Saints Parish Winners this pandemic situation we promoted social distance, but our - Crib competition Winners Snehaduth conveyed the message of love - to all that you are - Sukrutajapam Winners not distant from parish and our parish needs you. I am really proud to say that our youth are gifted with divine grace. At the beginning of the year of St Joseph, through our Men’s ministry we blessed the St Joseph shed. This dream is fulfilled only by dedication and hard work of our Men’s ministry. I congratulate them for the good beginning. Our parish is in a growing stage, in this stage we all should hand together to protect and support. We all should keep the confidence in mind that yes, we can. In the path of growing we should keep the \"7 ups\" in your mind 7 Ups for the New Year! 1. WAKE UP- Begin the day thanking the Lord Jesus. It is His day. Rejoice in it. 2. LOOK UP - Open your eyes to the Lord Jesus. Ask for his strength and blessings for the day through the anointing of his Holy Spirit. After all, he is your only Savior . 3. DRESS UP - Put on a smile. It improves your looks. It says something about your attitude. It enables Jesus living within you to smile at others. 4. SHUT UP - Watch your tongue. Don’t gossip. Don’t be judgmental. Say nice things. Learn to listen to others with love. Be sympathetic. 5. STAND UP - Taken a stand for what you believe. Resist evil. Do good. Have the courage of your Christian convictions by practicing what you believe. 6. REACH UP - Spend time in prayer by talking to God with your adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplications to the Lord and by listening to Him by attentively reading the Bible and by applying its message to your life. 7. LIFT UP - Be available to help those in need - serving, supporting, and sharing. Try to find Jesus in others and serve him who lives in others. - Fr.Bins Chethalil

Mother of Jesus “If you ever feel distressed during your day, call upon our Lady, just say this simple prayer. ‘Mary, Mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now. ‘I must admit, this prayer has never failed me.” – St. Mother Teresa. I dedicate this month Bulletin Faith Corner to Mother Mary. It is a pleasure to write something about my most favorite person, MOTHER OF JESUS and OUR MOTHER. It is fitting that January 1st is celebrated as the Solemnity of Mary, MOTHER OF GOD. The honoring of Mary as the Mother of God can be traced back to centuries. We just celebrated the Christmas, Birth of Jesus. At this time, we are reminded of the important role the Blessed Virgin played in the plan of our salvation. Jesus’s birth was made possible by Mary’s words “Be it done to me according to thy word”. Calling Mary “Mother of God” is the highest honor we can give to her. Christmas honors Jesus as the “Prince of Peace”, Mother of God honors Mary as the “Queen of Peace”. New Year day is also is the World Day of Peace. It is an honor to have Mary as our Mother and every grace that comes from Jesus comes through Mary. There are many other Mary’s feasts too, to name a few: Assumption of Mary into Heaven – August 15, Queen ship of the Virgin Mary - August 22, Birth of Mary - September 8, Immaculate Conception - December 8 etc. Mary is also honored with countless Titles, like Blessed Mother, Madonna, Our Lady, Star of the Sea, Queen of Heaven, Cause of our Joy, Mother of Mercy, Our Lady of the Rosary, Our Lady of Sorrows, and many names associated with places, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and so on. Mary had the most important 3 virtues Humility, Purity and Love of God. As we try to imitate her virtues, we must remember that our greatness comes not in our accomplishments, but in our willingness to say, yes to God in both large matters and small matters. The gift of Mary to the Church was Jesus’s last human act from the Cross. Reflecting on the little information above, let us strive to keep Mary in our minds as much as we can and save ourselves from other unwanted thoughts and desires. We also celebrated the feasts of the Holy innocents and the Holy Family. The Holy Family is said to have fled to Egypt and moved locations very frequently so-as-to avoid the reach of Herod’s spies. In total, there are 26 locations through-out the Country where it is believed that the Holy Family passed through or sought refuge in during their three-and-a-half years in hiding until the death of Herod. I wind up with the saying of Mother Mary herself to Saint Bernadette at Lourdes “I do not promise you happiness in this world, but in the next.” Wish you all a Happy and Blessed New Year 2021. - Alex Nedumthuruthil, PRO

Good Bye 2020 ... Hello 2021 2020 was a rollercoaster for many of us. Most people would say 2020 “was the worst year,” however 2020 also came with it blessings. Because of the pandemic, families were able to spend quality time with one another without having to worry about anything. For Christmas and New Years, I was able to spend quality time with my friends and family amidst of the pandemic. 2020 had more downs than ups, however during this pandemic it taught me that every little blessing counts and that you should be happy with what you have. - Merin Kattapuram This year taught me how to really prioritize self-care and my physical and mental health. It also helped me realize the importance in the little things and moments in our lives that we can sometimes take for granted. Although 2020 was rough for everyone, I think it has helped us recognize that we have far more to be grateful for than we realize. - Neethu Valiyakalumkal In 2020 I was able to spend more time with my family and pray together. Able to develop individual skills by initiating household activities. A great opportunity to recognize God’s mercy and blessings every day throughout pandemic. I am grateful ! - Milton Thadathil 2020 helped me get closer with each and every one of my family members. It also has made me have a better spiritual connection with Jesus! - Tom Valiyakalumkal Even though 2020 hasn’t been the best year of our lives it had its own positives to look back into. First of all, I am grateful to God for protecting me and my family since the beginning of the pandemic. 2020 mainly helped me to build a better relationship with my family as we got to spend more time together. It also helped me push myself to work harder to better myself and I was also able to find new hobbies and skills that helped me adjust during this time. - Nimmy Muthalupidi 2020 was one crazy unexpected year. Who would have ever thought in 2015 that this is where we would be in 5 years! Learning to wash our hands, wear masks, lock ourselves at our homes, attend virtual classes, meetings, online masses etc ! But 2020 was a great eye opener too! We met our loved ones a lot less than the usual but every single time we got a chance to meet them it meant and felt a lot more. We all found many different ways to be in touch and maybe last year we were more connected than usual even if we did not get to meet. We learned to appreciate and notice the simple things around us. We had no idea what was in store for 2020 and we weren't prepared! 2020 surprised us and shocked us but also made us stronger and left a lot of positive imprints in our life. Goodbye 2020! - Jesna Kalapurakunnumpuram
