I really appreciate our Men’s ministry team members for their love of our Parish and dedication towards our parish . - Trustees Message - Kids Corner These days in preparation for the Birth of Jesus Christ, like a child in the womb of a mother we are in the womb of house in this pandemic situation. So prepare ourselves for a new birth with the Birth of Jesus. When we gather with family and loved ones in this holy season we feel gratitude for God's many gifts above all for the gift of his son the birth of our saviour, celebrated at Christmas is a birth of new hope for our troubled world today. This message comes to us in many ways, the lowly shepherd who remind us to reach out to the poor ,to the homeless to victims of violence and to all who live on the margins of society through Mary and Joseph who escaped the thread of violence taking up perilous journey. Like many who are displaced from their homes by war and property's and support us to protect immigrants and refugees around the world and those who come to our country, may we never say there is no room in the end, but rather let us thank God for the diverse gifts of each and every person and the message of hope cokes through the magic who, presented their gifts of the earth to child Jesus and honored him. May we honor and respect all human life and value our common home by protecting the gifts of nature. We too are invited to be messengers of the good news of the saviours birth and reach out to our loved ones and the whole world with comfort hope and joy. The joy which can only be brought out through Christ. God bless you all and all your loved ones this holy season. Wish you all a Merry Christmas ! Peace and Love, Binsachen.

CHRISTMAS BEGINS WITH Christ It’s that time of the year again. Carols are heard over the radio, decorations are adorned throughout the streets and everyone is busy holiday shopping. However in the hustle and bustle of the “holiday season” and all its “seasonal greetings,” I sometimes wonder whether the true meaning of Christmas has been lost over the years. This Advent season, I decided to ask myself some simple questions in order to get reacquainted with the true meaning of Christmas. What is Christmas? Christmas is the celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ. Why is His birth important? Jesus’ birth is important because he was born for our salvation. What is salvation? Salvation is the new life as Children of God we receive through Jesus Christ. In that sense, the birthday of Jesus is also the cause of our “birthdays” as Children of God. And who doesn’t want to celebrate a birthday? Christmas is not only the celebration of Jesus’ birthday, it’s also a celebration of the beginning of our Salvation, which culminates on Easter. It is not only an external event or a ceremony, but also the internal joy for the Salvation provided by Jesus. The celebrations we have during Christmas should be the outward expressions of this joy. As I’ve grown older, I’ve noticed that my “holiday cheer” usually comes from external things such as the decorations, the music and invariably the food. However, without the support of the internal joy that comes from the knowledge of my salvation, these external causes of happiness become less, almost meaningless. The pleasure I get from tasting the holiday food or singing carols is short lived and is over as soon as that moment is over. In saying this, I’m by no means diminishing the value of our celebrations, but merely pointing out that they lose meaning when they lose their original intent and purpose. It is my mission to keep the joy of my salvation caused by the birth of my Savior Jesus during this Christmas season. I invite everyone to do the same. Wish you all a Merry Christmas ! ! - Bonny Benny Kattuveetil

Feast of the Holy Innocents From the food, gifts and songs, Christmas has always been the majority’s favorite holiday. While time spent with each other is important, it is even more important to remember the true reason why we celebrate Christmas and the sacrifices that were made for the Lord’s birth. Overwhelmed by the joy of Christmas, many often forget to remember the Feast of the Holy Innocents which only comes a few days after. The 28th of December is honored as the Feast of the Holy Innocents. The book of Mathew from the Bible tells the story behind the day as it talks about why King Herod wanted to kill Jesus, later leading to the massacre of infant boys in Bethlehem. It is stated that, King Herod felt threatened by the birth of Jesus, the newborn king of Jews. He sent the magi (astrologer) to locate Jesus so he could pay homage to the Messiah. Knowing this was a lie, as they were warned in a dream, the Magi did not return to Herod. When Herod realized he was betrayed, he ordered the massacre of all boys of the age of two and under in Bethlehem and its vicinity, not knowing that the holy family had fled to Egypt per the instructions of an angel (Mathew 2: 1-16). On December 28th, the church remembers the innocent lives that were killed. The slain children are remembered as martyrs that were killed in an attempt to kill infant Jesus. Along with the children, the grieving mothers of Bethlehem are honored on the day. The Bible shines light to the mothers as it states that the massacre fulfilled prophet Jeremiah’s saying: “ A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation; Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more” (Mathew 2:18). Many churches still remember them on the 28th as certain phrases are omitted during mass. As the year comes to an end, remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by others is important when counting one’s blessings. Even today, many innocent children have lost their lives from religious prosecution. It is important to honor and cherish them as their sacrifices are unforgettable. Moreover, remembering their families and the hardships they have gone through is equally important. Without turning our backs on them, let us make a difference in our own community so no more lives are lost. -Anu Kuplicatt
