Words from the Big Guy March Madness at Towerpoint is one of the best times of the year. The weather starts turning into the great weather we all come to Arizona for. We have bands, concerts, parties, food, St. Patrick’s Day, and sooooo much more. We certainly don’t roll up the sidewalks at Towerpoint. It used to be that March Madness was about Basketball, not here, March Madness is about getting the most of everyday while you are still here. The time to head back to your summer places is approaching, a time to get some rest from your Towerpoint Winter Camp Experience, and get ready for the 2020-21 Winter Camp Season. It has been a fun season in spite of some of the weather challenges. The joy I have seen on your faces and in the way you treat each other and the staff has been a highlight of the season. Now it is not over, not by a long shot. March is a time to be on the move here at Towerpoint. Smile, wave and get to know someone new everyday. I bet each of you can spend the rest of your days here this season and meet someone you don’t know. Reach out to each other, have a blast at the street parties and at Carousing in the Courtyard. As you can tell by the first week’s schedule this really is March Madness. How exciting to be a part of it. This is also a very cool month for me and Judy. Our kids and grandkids from England (moved from the Netherlands) will be here for about a week starting March 8th. A new puppy, Zoe, will greet the 4 boys and we are looking forward to having a blast with them. The boys are age 5 to 13 and I will get to meet my youngest and last grandchild Malachi very soon. In person that is, we have talked on video chat many times. I am sure you will be able to find us at the Racetrack a lot during that week. When you see us stop and say hi. We are excited to have them come for a visit. More March Madness for us. I want to encourage all of you to not wrap things up and stay home this month. Make some great memories this March and be in community. Make this March one to Remember. We will also get going on getting next year scheduled. Activities coordinators, we will be in touch with you over the next ten days. And Watch the blurb for event scheduling requests in the next few days. Can’t believe I am thinking about next season. But it is going to be amazing, that I promise. So, into March Madness we climb and as Robin Williams once said “If you are only given one little spark of madness, don’t lose it” Have a blast everyone and who knows you may end up smiling all the way back to your summer home. They also talk about solving all the world’s problems. Everyone is welcome and if you want to learn they would be happy to teach. The Mat Makers are an extra special group and we would love to see the project expand this season. They recycle plastic grocery bags and turn them into mats for homeless veterans in the Phoenix area. From collecting and sorting bags, to cutting and prepping the Plarn (plastic yarn) to crocheters to put the mats together it is a community effort. Can’t make it Mondays, stop in the Activity Office and find out about starting a mat group in your home anytime you want. It’s a great cause. 15
