A Friendly Note from the Fortuna De Oro Mailroom Welcome back to you winter home away from home!!!! It is great to have you all here, we have missed you!!! We have experienced some changes around the park due to COVID and are abiding by the guide- lines as directed from Cal-am, one of which is to remember to always wear your face mask when you are in any Cal-Am common area, Saloon, Pools, Sport courts, Mailroom, etc. Thanks for your cooperation re- garding this. Any questions regarding mail can be directed to the mailroom in the form of a note dropped in the Black Box located in the Mailroom. We will do our best to get you an answer as soon as possible, please include your Site number and Phone number. Packages: Please remember to always put your site number. Packages are currently being delivered to your site by our Mail Staff. Please note this is subject to change at any time. We only pick up USPS. Any package being delivered by FedEx or UPS THEY deliver to your site. Just a brief reminder— Site Numbers on any of your mail being forwarded from your home post office are very important as there are several of you who share the same last names. Also, if you are expecting incoming mail being addressed to your site for individuals, companies, etc., that information will be appreciated by the mailroom in order that the mail is directed to the proper boxes. Although, it is neat to get letters addressed to Grandma or Grandpa please be sure to inform the senders that there are one or two grandmas or grandpa here in the park so it makes it difficult to locate the cor- rect box as well. Welcome back picklers! We are so glad you are here. We are excited to see all our pickleball friends, and look forward to making new ones! Our season kicks off officially in November, but you can hit the available courts now! Morning social play all skill levels 7 days a week, 8am. Coming in November! Whether it's exercise, social fun, competitive fun, or training, we have something for everyone! New Player instruction Weekly rotating partner Round Robins by skill level. Weekly Mens only and Ladies only Round Robins. Weekly Royal Court Progressive Play Monthly social evening Round Robin random mix. Drill Clinics - Where practice makes permanent. Your Host this season is Kimberly Strong, space #290. It takes a village to run a pickleball pro- gram, court maintenance, team leaders for Round Robins, mentoring and training new play- ers. If you have suggestions and/or would like to help you may contact Kimberly at [email protected]. As we enter this season still under evolving COVID-19 restrictions, things to keep in mind. Add hand sanitizer, and a mask to your pickleball gear. You will not need a mask while playing, only when it becomes impossible to maintain 6' radius while waiting to play. See you on the courts!

5-INGREDIENT EASY CHILI This thick and hearty chili comes together in just 15 minutes, using only 5 ingredients. Truly one of our favorite chili recipes ever it is perfect for winter or fall, spring or even summer barbecuing. Any recipe that tastes this good and can be put together on a lazy day is a keeper in my book! INGREDIENTS 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef 2 (14.5-ounce) cans fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes with Garlic 2 (15.5-ounce) cans chili beans (I used S&W) 1 (7-ounce) can diced green chiles or 1/2 can (4-ounce) diced jalapenos 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper (to taste) INSTRUCTIONS 1. In a large (4 quart) saucepan over medium-high heat, cook beef. Break beef up with a wooden spoon. Cook until cooked through, stirring occasionally. Add tomatoes, beans, jalapenos and crushed red pepper flakes (to taste - use less for mild, more for hot). Stir. Simmer 5 minutes. 2.Serve and enjoy! PECAN PIE MUFFINS These Pecan Pie Muffins are a mix between a pie and a muffin. They have a muffin texture with a soft gooey inside like a mini Southern pecan pie. INGREDIENTS 1 cup packed light brown sugar ½ cup all-purpose flour 2 cups chopped pecans 2/3 cup butter, softened 2 eggs, beaten INSTRUCTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease mini or regular muffin cups generously. Grease them well or they will stick. In medium bowl, stir together brown sugar, flour and pecans. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and eggs together. Stir in dry ingredients just until combined. Spoon batter into muffin cups about 2/3 full. Bake for 12-13 minutes for mini muffins or 15-17 minutes for regular size muffins. Run a knife around the edge of each muffin and pop it out.
