หน้ำทขี่ อง Gerund คอื ? สำมำรถอยู่ได้ทงั้ หนำ้ กลำง และหลังของประโยค ดังน้ันคำนำม ทำหนำ้ ทีอ่ ะไรได้ Gerund กท็ ำได้เช่นกัน ดังน้ี

01 Gerund ทำหน้ำทีเ่ ป็นประธำน (Subject) ของประโยค เช่น

Example 1. Eating vegetables and 2. Getting a good job 3. Fishing is fun. fruits is good for your health. is not easy. (กำรตกปลำสนุกจัง) (กำรกนิ ผกั และผลไมด้ ีต่อสุขภำพ (กำรจะได้งำนดี ๆ มันไม่ง่ำย ของคุณ) หรอกนะ)

02 Gerund ทำหน้ำที่เปน็ กรรม (Object) ของ ประโยค แบง่ ออกเป็น 2 แบบ คือ

2.1 เปน็ กรรมของกริยำ transitive verb (vt) + gerund **transitive verb คือ กริยำทตี่ อ้ งมกี รรมมำรองรบั ** เชน่ He enjoys reading. Tom avoided talking to his (เขำสนุกกับกำรอ่ำนหนงั สือ) boss. (ทอมหลกี เลย่ี งกำรคุยกบั หวั หนำ้ ของเขำ) I just can’t stop loving you. (ฉนั ไม่สำมำรถหยุด(กำร)รกั คุณ ได)้

2.2 Gerund เป็นกรรมของบพุ บท (Prepositions) ตำมกฎ แลว้ คำทตี่ ำมหลงั คำบพุ บทต้องเป็นคำนำม แต่ถำ้ จะตำม ด้วยคำกรยิ ำตอ้ งเปน็ Gerund เชน่ Tom is good at playing football. (ทอมเกง่ ในกำรเลน่ ฟตุ บอล) You can improve your English by using the internet. (คุณสำมำรถพัฒนำภำษำองั กฤษของคณุ ไดโ้ ดยกำรใชอ้ นิ เทอรเ์ น็ต) We are looking forward to going to Italy. (เรำกำลงั ตงั้ ตำรอทีจ่ ะไปอติ ำลี)

03 Gerund เปน็ ส่วนเติมเต็มของประโยค (Complement) มักตำมหลัง Verb to be เชน่

Example The knowledge is learning something everyday. (ควำมรคู้ ือกำรเรยี นรสู้ ิง่ ต่ำง ๆ ทุกวนั ) The hardest thing about learning English is understanding the gerund. (สง่ิ ทย่ี ำกท่สี ดุ เกี่ยวกบั กำรเรยี นภำษำอังกฤษกค็ อื ควำม เข้ำใจเรอื่ งกริยำนำมน่แี หละ)

04 ใช้ Gerund ตำมหลงั คำคุณศพั ทบ์ ำงคำ เช่น afraid of (กลวั ), fond of (ชอบท่จี ะ), interested in (สนใจใน), proud of (ภมู ใิ จ กับ), busy (ยุ่ง) เป็นต้น เชน่

Example They are afraid of losing the match. (พวกเขำกลัวแพ้กำรแขง่ ขนั )
