MVN times Senior-wing edition - III OCT-DEC 2022 Where education takes another step, every day, every year.

THE COUNSELLOR'S DESK The COMEBACK is always greater than the SETBACK Dear Parent/Student A year end is a good time to think and re-think about the what, where and why of our life. We all start our new year with a lot of positivity and planning but the year may or may not unfold the way we want. The reasons for this mismatch most of the time are not so obvious and are in fact very subtle and can easily get ignored. Without this awareness, we repeat the same pattern every year. Let this year be a different one. Take a pause and ask yourself some straight questions and take in some straight answers. This year - 1. Have you put effort where you wanted to? The way you wanted to? (ex Academics, Friendships, self learning etc.) 2. What you learnt this year about yourself the hard way? (Ex: I procrastinate, I get agitated easily, I have no genuine friends, etc.) 3. Have you got results according to your expectations? If not, why? 4. Is there a way to do things differently from what you have done so far? The comeback is always greater than the setback. Setback is the end of the task you were engaged in where you may have already exhausted yourself both physically & mentally. Comeback is an event where you prepare yourself to walk again on the same path but with a new strategy. Comebacks are always accompanied with lessons from previous mistakes. When we get a setback, we may lose hope and choose the easy way to stop even thinking about trying again; most of us think like this. But we may think of a comeback by trying it a few more times to finally get what we always want. Sometimes when we feel things are falling apart, they are actually falling into place. A ball bounces back very high if shot with force towards ground. Always Remember - Higher the setback, stronger the comeback. Make your today a marginally better than your yesterday and the year will turn out as per your expectations. May this New Year 2023 be your year of COMEBACK! With best wishes, ARCHANA BAPAT COUNSELLOR

PERSEVERANCE \"It always seems impossible until it’s done.” Dear Parent/Student Everyone strives to achieve and accomplish the desired objective in order to be successful in life. Success can be attained by hard work and perseverance. The power to turn obstacles into opportunity, the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed is the virtue of perseverance. The quality of perseverance can be developed with regular practice and hard work combined with an indomitable spirit to remain focused on the goal till success is attained. Thomas Edison had made 1000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. Nelson Mandela also had to walk the long road to freedom against apartheid. Our former President, Dr. Abdul Kalam whose enthusiasm and passion for hard work proved infectious for many scientists and engineers at the Indian Space Research organization (ISRO) too was one among the many resilient people who overcame failure to achieve huge success. So dear students “When faced with obstacles around every turn You must be steadfast on what you yearn Success you will surely find When you persevere and remain focused in your mind.” SUMITA BANERJEE -EDUCATOR
