Course Description Fundamental concepts of industrial hygiene; components of work environment, hazardous environment in industry; problem recognition, problem assessment, and hazard control in workplace; standard values in industrial hygiene; methods of investigation; evaluation; and health hazard control. 2. Course Objectives By the end of the class, students should be able to state the definition, scope, and functions of the industrial hygiene profession, anticipate and recognize the range of hazard classes potentially present in the workplace, and their sources, with an emphasis on biological, chemical and physical agents, recognize the major health implications of hazardous substances in the workplace and define and explain application of certain concepts common to management of all workplace hazards, such as the regulatory environment of workplace health, and occupational standards setting. 3.
