ACCESSIBLE 1. The students will also need a Gmail email address. They can set this up in two minutes for free online. We can provide instructions for this. No other email is acceptable. 2. The students will be prompted to enter their first and second names in English. 3. The students will be prompted to enter their Student ID No. This will be used as a double check when identifying students. 4. TIMING OF THE ONLINE LESSON The lesson is posted on Friday evening and the students have until the following Wednesday to compete the lesson. The instructor introduces the topic for the lesson and gets the students focused on this theme. STEP TWO VOCAB – The teacher uses images and video to elicit / teach the vocabulary for today’s lesson. The teacher models the items clearly and encourages the students to repeat the items to gain accurate pronunciation and build confidence. STEP THREE ASSESSED VOCAB QUIZ – Students now try to complete the vocabulary quiz. These checks whether they have learned the items and also tests for accurate spelling of each item. STEP FOUR LISTENING ACTIVITY – The teacher introduces the characters and the situation for a conversation featuring learned vocabulary items. STEP SIX CONVERSATION MODEL AND DRILL – The teacher clearly models the conversation line by line prompting the students to repeat and focusing on challenging sounds, syllables, contractions and intonation. STEP NINE ASSESSED PRACTICE ACTIVITY – The students complete activities using the functional exponents and grammatical structures learned to further practice and reinforce understanding. RECORD OF STUDENT ACCESS AND PROGRESS We have set up Google Forms to automatically record all student access with a time stamp and record all assessed elements of the online lesson. After the week’s lesson is closed, the SINE admin team will download all student response information into a spreadsheet for each year.
