Phu Phrabat Historical Park Phu Phrabat Historical Park is one of Isan's most compelling sights and experiences. In prehistoric times, many of the rock formations were modified to form various religious functions. Buddhist sema stones from the Dvaravati era, presumably about 1,000 to 1,200 years ago, are plentiful, and the ground under some rocky overhangs has been painstakingly carved into smooth platforms. The Khmer later added some Hindu elements to the site. In addition, prehistoric paintings on several rock overhangs, best seen at side-by-side Tham Wua and Tham Khon, show this was probably regarded as a holy site perhaps 3,000 years ago. 11
Ban Na Kha Ban Na Kha is located 16 kilometers from Udon Thani on the edge of Highway No. 2. Called sometimes a silk market, it is essentially composed of stores selling silk and cotton clothes. The most famous are the 'Mi-Khit' style clothes, which the geometric patterns are typical of Isan (Northeastern Thailand). You can stroll from boutique to boutique and find both very traditional outfits and more modern clothes. And by going along the perpendicular streets, you will discover tailors’ workshops. 12
