What is the Daily Journal? The Daily Journal is prepared for you to explore and write down your daily thought and ideas. You will discover more about God’s characters and how to become more like Him everyday. In the first semester, we will learn about His love, holiness, wisdom, faithfulness and justice. In the second semester, we will continue with the God’s just, mercy, grace, goodness and forgiveness. Through this journal and studying God’s word daily, you will develop a good habit of listening to God’s voice and you will also realise how special you are to God. We hope that you will learn to become more like Jesus.

How to use the Daily Journal? During Morning Devotion, spend time with your teacher and friends to study God’s word Write your thoughts about what you study in God’s word today. Share them with your teacher, parents or classmates. Enjoy the time.

A Special Note to Parents Does Character matters? John Wooden (a very successful basketball coach) said that we need to be more concerned with our character than our reputation, because our character is what we really are, while our reputation is merely what others think we are. At IPH Schools, we believe that Christian character is not about doing good things, but it begins with making God as the role model. Knowing the character of God will let us understand who our God is and how to act when no one sees us but God. Through the teaching of God’s character and reflecting it in the daily journal, we want to develop habit in our students to spend time in God’s word every day. We hope that they will understand why things are right and wrong and they will become more like Jesus. This journal is a connection tool which provides teachers, parents and students with an opportunity to discuss the implementation of character and other important topics. We hope the time we spend together on this journal will become a special time for us to cherish and look forward.

God’s character is like a diamond with many facets. Even though God has more than one aspect of His character, they are complementary to each other. In the teaching of God’s character, we will start with Love because God is love and will always be loving. Memory Verse Loving is a choice, not a good feeling. God loves us even though God doesn't always feel good about us. Sometimes we disappoint Him but God never stops loving us and always chooses what is best for us.

Matthew 22 : 37-39 Jesus replied : \"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.\" This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it : \"Love your neighbor as yourself.\"

HOLY God always chooses what is right out of what He knows, He is a holy God. Because he has perfect knowledge He is absolutely holy. “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3b

Memory Verse We are sinful. Only because Jesus Christ made us holy through His life, His death on the cross, and His resurrection, we are able to come in His presence. When you and I choose what is right out of what we know, we are holy.

A CALL TO BE HOLY As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:14-16 God knows that we sin, but God loves us so much and gave his Son so that we can be holy and have relationship with Him. He asks us not to just doing what we feel like doing but to obey Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to be holy?

Our bodies are so important that the Lord calls them temples of God. Because our bodies are holy, God wants us to take good care of them. How do you treat your body as the temple of God?

WISDOM Wisdom is a loving use of knowledge. It is to take what we know and choose what’s best for others with it. Solomon asked God for wisdom and God was pleased with his request, that God made Solomon the wisest man in the earth (1 Kings 3:1-15). He wrote the book of Proverbs to teaches us how to be wise and why it is important to get wisdom.

psalm 111 : 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. When we fear the Lord, we become more concerned with what God things and feels than what we think or feel. When we fear God, we take sides with God against our feelings when our feelings lead us to doubt the goodness of God.

ASK FOR A WISDOM If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5 Before starting an activity, always ask God for wisdom. Write a prayer to ask God for wisdom.

FAITHFUL God is faithful because He always tells the truth and keeps his promises. We can always rely on and trust in Him. He is reliable, trustworthy, true to His Word & keeps His promises.

You Can Trust God! Deuteronomy 7:9 9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. Covenant is an agreement between two or more people. In Bible, we learn that God made covenants with Noah, Abraham, Israel and David. However each and every one of them fails to keep their promise and do their part of the covenant, but God is always faithful to them.

Believe in Jesus Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” God teaches us to ask, believe and have faith in God. We have to submit ourselves to God, because He is faithful to us. How do you show your faithfulness to God? Are there things that are getting in the way of your faithfulness to God?

JUST God is just because he gives us what we deserve. Righteousness and justice are directly related in the Scriptures. We are righteous when we treat all people rightly.

SODOM AND GOMORRAH If you someone who was doing wrong things all the time, what would you do to that person? Do you think God ever does punish people when they do wrong things? How does God punish people? Read the story about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18-19). Why do you think God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah? Is he still God of justice?
