Google Classroom Updates Check out these 2 new features beta testing in Boerne ISD! Rubrics: Teachers can create and save custom rubrics to grade assignments and share feedback with students. Learn more here Originality Reports: To identify uncited content and unintentional plagiarism before you turn in your work, you can run an originality report. Originality reports compare your Google Docs against hundreds of billions of webpages and tens of millions of books, link to detected sources, and flag uncited text. Learn more here

She dove right in the next day and included her students in the learning and design process. It was a win for everyone! Using shared classroom ipads and stations, the students used SMART SLS activities for curriculum reinforcement. This is one of many examples how Kyla is a Digital Leader! Great Job!

After planning sessions with Chelsey, she designed a science lesson where students investigated plant and animal cells through virtual and augmented reality stations. EClhvaamSpaiolninaHs,ighPhSotchogorolaphy Elva received a Digital Learning Leader Award for her innovative field trips to study photography in different countries. Coordinating with Kim Taylor (CHS Librarian) and Kerri, students observed photography through 360 degree photography. Students will continue this lesson through creating their own 360 tours. PURPOSEFUL TECHNOLOGY Technology does not replace the teacher. Technology is a tool to assist in learning to make a connection more relevant, more engaging, and interactive. Like any tool in your toolbox, selecting the appropriate tool for the appropriate time is essential. Our district follows the SAMR model below. The bottom of the chart shows traditional assignments and apps that are similar in performance. How are your students using technology? CLICK THE IMAGE FOR LINKS TO EVERY APP

QU TIPS As we end our first 6 weeks, you may find your Google Classroom assignment list getting cluttered. Create a new TOPIC “1st 6 weeks” and drag/ drop all assignments in there. Assignments are not lost and not in the way! Use Google Classroom APP on your phone/ ipad to have random student selector. Watch it. Brilliant! Flippity has game templates already created so students can build games, timelines, name spinner, and more. Google Sheet Add-on. Positive parent communication is a district goal. Send messages to your Guardians/ Students through Skyward Messenger. Message logs are excellent TTESS evidence. Use classroomscreen.com to keep your classroom management tools on one screen. Timers, SLO, Activity instructions… all in one place. Have you seen the new exit ticket (bottom right)? Turn on CC in Google Slides while you present in class for instant speech to text during the presentation. Middle of a slides presentation and you need to take a quick side-lesson? Press B (for Black screen) or press W (for white screen) to bring students’ focus to you vs. the screen. Try it out! Looking for background music or sound effects?
