VITEA HEIGHTS, MALDIVES Supporting NMDC’s vision to grow internationally and continue its expansion of tourism project portfolio, 2017 saw the development of Vitea Heights, part of the DAMAC group, which is developing an island resort in the Maldives archipelago on the south Male Atoll. The Island has an approximate total area of 35.2 ha and will be developed into a luxury resort consisting of bungalows and water villas, high-end amenities and services. NMDC was awarded the contract for the dredging and reclamation works, beach construction, rock revetment works and jetty construction. NMDC I 74

KHALIFA PORT MARINE WORKS, ABU DHABI The expansion at Khalifa Port project started in 2016 and reached an important milestone in 2017. In total, the project will add 1000 meters of quay wall to the port and deepen its main channel and basin to 18 meters from the current 16 meters. The new quay wall will add an additional 600,000 sqm for cargo handling. Whereas contract quantity of dredging is 10,415,000 cubic meters. These measures will ensure the port can accommodate anticipated growth in the short to medium term and handle the world’s largest ships, increasing the competitiveness of the Emirate as a logistics and maritime hub while also serving key industries across the UAE.
