Adjectives Adjectives หรือ คาคุณศพั ท์ คือ คาทใ่ี ช้ขยาย หรอื บอกคุณลกั ษณะใหแ้ ก่คานาม คา สรรพนาม เพ่ือให้คาเหล่าน้ันมีความชดั เจนมากย่ิงขึ้น หรือ ให้รายละเอยี ดมากข้นึ นน่ั เอง โดยเรา สามารถแบง่ ประเภทของ Adjectives ออกเป็นหมวดหมตู่ ่างๆไดด้ ังตอ่ ไปนี้ 1. การเปรยี บเทยี บคาคุณศพั ท์ ( Comparison of Adjectives ) การเปรยี บเทียบคาคณุ ศพั ท์ ( Comparison of Adjectives ) เป็นการเปรยี บเทยี บ คุณสมบตั หิ รือลกั ษณะของคานามว่ามีคุณภาพเทา่ เทียมกัน มากกว่า หรือมากทส่ี ุด อย่างไร โดย สามารถแบ่งการเปรียบเทียบได้เปน็ 3 ข้นั คือ 1. การเปรยี บเทยี บขน้ั ปกติ ( Positive Degree ) ใชเ้ ปรียบเทียบลักษณะทเ่ี ท่าเทยี มกนั หรือไม่เทา่ เทียมกัน มคี าเชือ่ มหลายลกั ษณะดังตอ่ ไปน้ี  as + adjective + as แสดงความ เทา่ เทยี มกนั เชน่ The new machine is as big as the old one .เครื่องจักรใหม่ใหญ่เท่าๆกบั เครอื่ งเกา่  as + much + นามนับไมไ่ ด้หรอื many +นามนบั ได้ + as แสดงความเท่าเทยี ม กัน เชน่ I have as much time as you. ฉนั มีเวลามากเท่าๆคุณ I have as many cars as you. ฉนั มีรถมากเท่าๆคุณ  the same +นาม + as แสดงความเทา่ เทียมกนั เช่น Malee is the same age as Yupa มาลีมีอายเุ ท่ากบั ยพุ า แตถ่ า้ ประธานเปน็ พหูพจน์ ให้ตดั as ออกได้เลย เช่น Malee and Yupa are the same age. มาลแี ละลัดดาอายุเท่ากนั 8

 กรณตี ้องการเปรยี บเทียบความไม่เท่ากันมรี ูปแบบดังนี้ not so + adjective + as หรือ not as + adjective + as เช่น This project is not so good as that one. โครงการนี้นี้ไม่ดโี ครงการนน้ั น้นั หรอื This project is not as good as that one. 2. การเปรยี บเทียบขนั้ กวา่ ( Comparative Degree ) ใชเ้ ปรยี บเทยี บกับนาม 2 นาม ว่ามี ลกั ษณะมากกวา่ หรอื น้อยกว่า ดังน้ี A + v. to be + (adj +er ) + than + B เชน่ This road is longer than that one. ถนนเสน้ น้ยี าวกว่าเส้นนัน้ You are taller than me. หรอื You are taller than I am. เธอสงู กว่าฉนั A + v. to be + (more + adj ) + than + B เชน่ This film is more interesting than that one. ภาพยนตรเ์ รื่องน้ีนา่ สนใจกว่าเรื่อง นัน้ My mobile phone is less expensive than yours ( your mobile phone) โทรศัพท์มือถือของฉันราคาแพงนอ้ ยกว่าของคณุ 3. การเปรยี บเทยี บขน้ั สงู สุด ( Superlative Degree ) ใช้เปรียบเทยี บกบั นามที่มจี านวนตง้ั แต่ 3 ข้นึ ไป วา่ มีลักษณะ ที่สดุ ในจานวนนามเหลา่ นัน้ รปู แบบมดี งั น้ี the + คุณศัพทข์ ั้นสูงสุด + นาม What is the longest river in the world? แม่นา้ อะไรยาวทส่ี ุดในโลก Flying is the safest way to travel. การเดินทางโดยเคร่อื งบินเปน็ การเดินทางที่ ปลอดภัยท่ีสดุ Susan is my best friend. ซูซานเปน็ เพอื่ นทด่ี ที ่ีสดุ ของฉัน ( ถา้ มี possessive adjectiveเช่นmy, your, his, ect อยหู่ น้าคณุ ศัพท์ข้ันสูงสุดแลว้ ไม่ ตอ้ งใช้ the ) 9
