Past simple Past simple tense คือรูปประโยคที่ใช้ในการกล่าวเรื่องราว เหตุการณ์หรือสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีต เป็นสิ่งที่ผ่านไปแล้ว จบไปแล้ว สิ้นสุดไปแล้ว ไม่มีผลต่อในเหตุการณ์ปัจจุบัน คำกริยาที่ใช้ใน Tense นี้ ส่วนมากจะเป็นคำกริยาช่องที่ 2 (V.2) — คำกริยาช่องที่ 2 คือคำกริยาที่ใชบ่งบอกเหตุการณ์ที่่เกิดขึ้นในอดีต มี 2 รูปแบบคือ Regular Verb หรือ กริยาปกติที่ไม่เปลี่ยนรูป เมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็นรูปอดีตจะเติม “ed” จะตามหลังเสมอ เช่น walked , worked , invited เป็นต้น Irregular Verb หรือ กริยาที่ไม่ปกติ มีการเปลี่ยนรูปเมื่อกลายเป็นอดีต เช่น drive เป็น drove, eat เป็น ate , go เป็น went เป็นต้น ( บางครั้งในบางคำก็ไม่ต้องเปลี่ยนแปลงและไม่ต้องเติม “ed” เช่น cut=>cut=>cut เป็นต้น )

การใช้ Past simple tense มี 2 แบบ ดังนี้ 1. ใช้กับเรื่องราว เหตุการณ์ หรือสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นและจบลงไปแล้วในอดีต มักจะมีคำว่า yesterday , last , day , last night , last month , last year , ago Ex. She bought the dolls for me last month 2. ใช้กับเรื่องราว เหตุการณ์ หรือสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นประจำ หรือทำจนเป็นนิสัยในอดีต แต่ไม่ได้ทำ หรือเลิกทำแล้วในปัจจุบัน อาจจะมีคำที่แสดงถึงความถี่ เช่น always , usually , often , sometimes , never , every Ex. He usually watched movies last month

โครงสร้างประโยค Past simple tense ประโยคบอกเล่า => S+V2 Ex. I played basketball yesterday. ประโยคปฏิเสธ => S+ did + not + V .inf ( infinitive คือ รูปกริยาที่ไม่ได้ผัน กริยาช่องที่ 1 Ex. He was not (wasn’) a teacher. ประโยคคำถาม => Did + S + V.inf + ? Ex. Did she eat some cookies?

Past Continuous Past continuos tense คือรูปประโยคที่ใช้ในการกล่าวถึงเรื่องราวเหตุการณ์ หรือสิ่งที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้น หรือกำลังดำเนินต่อไปในอดีต และดำเนินไปในช่วงใดช่วงหนึ่งที่ผ่านไปแล้ว จะใช้ was/were แทน is am are Was ใช้กับนามที่เป็นเอกพจน์ ( 1 สิ่งเท่านั้น ) Were ใช้กับนามที่เป็นพหูพจน์ ( มากกว่า 1 สิ่งขึ้นไป )

การใช้ Past continuous มี 3 แบบ 1. ใช้ในการกล่าวถึงเรื่องราว เหตุการณ์หรือสิ่งที่กำลังจะเกิดในอดีตในที่ใดที่หนึ่ง จะบอกเวลาชัดเจน Ex. We were having dinner at 10 o’clock. 2. ใช้ในการกล่าวถึงเรื่องราว เหตุการณ์หรือสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีตแต่ถูกขัดจังหวะ เกิดก่อน จะใช้ Past continuous tense เกิดหลัง จะใช้ Past simple tense มักจะมีคำว่า when หรือ as มาเชื่อมประโยค Ex. I was watching the movie when I started with my friends. 3. ใช้ในการกล่าวถึงเรื่องราว เหตุการณ์หรือสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีต มักจะมีคำว่า While หรือ and มาเชื่อมประโยค Ex. I was playing basketball while you were playing footbal. Ex

โครงสร้างประโยค Past Continuous tense ประโยคบอกเล่า => S + was/were + V.ing Ex. She was driving her car. ประโยคปฏิเสธ => S + was/were + not + V.ing กริยาช่องที่ 1 Ex. She was not (wasn’) driving her car. ประโยคคำถาม => Was/Were + S + V.ing +? Ex. Was she driving her car?

Past simple Vs Past continuous ความแตกต่างคือ Past simple กล่าวถึงเหตุการณ์ที่จบลงไปแล้ว เช่น I played football yesterday. แต่ Past continuous เป็นเหตุการณ์ที่ดำเนินอยู่ขณะนั้น (แม้จะจบลงไปแล้ว) เช่น I was writing the letter at 2 PM ตัวอย่าง การใช้ tense คู่นี้ร่วมกัน While we were watching television, dad came home. ( Past continuous ). ( Past simple)

Exemples As I was jogging. I saw Gift driving a car. While he was sleeping, his father was cooking. He was exercising at 7 o’clock yesterday. Piyawan was not performing when I visited her. Were you reading the book? I cleaned my room two weeks ago. We studied science last Friday. We came to meet me at school. I always went to school late last year. We did our homework last night.
