For other summer holiday activities at the Lido, the Active Academies Junior Run and Swim Camp is a good option for exhausting even the most active of children. There are two camps scheduled, one on the 29th-31st July and 12th-14th August. Go to the Active Academies website to book. Also don’t forget about the hugely popular parent and toddler sessions from 10am until noon on Wednesday mornings during term time and Sid the Sub Inflatable Sessions every Sunday morning from 10am- 11.30am throughout the summer- top tip for the inflatables session, get there early! 53

We just plan to absolutely not move our car during the Festival period and walk everywhere. Finally, the biggest moment in our town’s summer For those visiting the town, please think about where calendar, and the thing we’re most looking forward to, you leave your car and be aware of tight corners and is the Arundel Festival. We always have so much fun at narrow streets. all the events, watching the live music, seeing the street 6. Do the Gallery Trail alone! My final piece of advice performers and spotting the sculptures throughout doesn’t involve the children at all. I love the Gallery town. While the schedule specifics are yet to be Trail but it’s something best enjoyed without the little released at the time of writing, as a family with young ones. The beautiful old houses of Arundel are often children the town can get pretty crazy over the Festival filled with matching antiques and knick-knacks that period and the number of events on offer can be quite seem to be irresistible to little hands. I advise you save overwhelming! So I thought I’d share six of our tips to an hour or two to do the tour alone for a lot more enjoying the Festival with little people in tow… relaxing experience! 1. Tackle the Festival in bite size chunks. While our town 55 is small and, in the days before kids, we could easily skip through the Festival in one day, for little people to enjoy all the elements we try and split it up into bite size chunks. Heading to the Jubilee Gardens stage one afternoon, Tarrant Street another day. Going slowly through the Festival programme means the children really get involved in each element and we can take the time to sit back and spot all the little things going on we might otherwise miss. It also means we can have the Festival on our summer holiday agenda for a number of days- not just done in one! 2. Make camp in one spot. We normally head to the Festival knowing our friends also with children are going to be in and around town so we have a spot in mind that we all head to at some point; around the Victoria Institute is our usual place (say hello if you see us!). Friends come and go but having our camp means there’s always someone to take a little one to the loo or get snacks from Larkins. 3. Know where their next meal is coming from- anyone with kids knows it’s always good to have an idea where you’re going to feed them! We’ve been caught out before with some of the food stalls closing earlier than expected or not particularly kid friendly meals on offer. So to avoid just getting by on salt and vinegar crisps all day, our favourites are to get a Pizza Express takeaway and eat it at the Kings Arms- bonus points for drinks for the parents while the kids eat! A mild curry from the excellent India Gate food stall is also a
