Mission & vision The Greater Sacramento NAACP is committed to making the Sacramento Region the safest place to live in California and a model of community policing; demonstrated by a measurable decrease in crime and a measurable increase in community engagement. The Greater Sacramento NAACP is poised to unite the community to bring about systematic changes with solution based recommendations. MISSION Ensure political, educational, economic and social equality and to eliminate race-based discrimination for all persons. The Greater Sacramento NAACP through its mission to bring about justice for all, will continue to illuminate the truth, remind us our past and will lead us to our future. We will continue to work in partnership to leverage our community strengths and will take note of past lessons to guide us through. LEGAL DEFENSE FUND Also referred to as the NAACP-LDF was founded in 1940 as a part of the NAACP, but separated in 1957 to become a completely separate entity. BETTY WILLIAMS Betty Williams has been a resident of Sacramento, California for more than 35 years; where she and her husband, Michael Williams, raised three sons, Jamel, Karnell and Joseph. However, she was born and raised in Urbana, Illinois, where she completed her undergraduate studies, where she majored in Business Administration and Minor in Political Science. Ms. Williams moved to Sacramento in 1983, where started her own business and is President/Owner of 1 Solution LLC. Business Outreach/Recruitment Firm, and is the President of Greater Sacramento NAACP, Past Business Chair of Indivizible (Northern California African American Business Organization), past Executive Director, Sacramento, Northern California ACLU, past Executive Director, CA Hawaii NAACP, Advisory Board Member of California High Speed Rail, past Board Member of Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce, Board Director of Sacramento Region Women Chamber of Commerce, and Board Commissioner for Racial Profiling. Did you know the Annual Prayer Breakfast was started in 1981? Mistress of Ceremony Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Neketia Henry moved to California with her mother at the age of 12. As a child, she knew that performing arts was her true passion, and began performing in numerous stage plays and musicals. Since then, Neketia has appeared in numerous film projects and countless commercials and national print ads. She is also a devoted wife and mother and advocates for students with learning disabilities ages elementary through high school. Neketia truly believes that to whom much is given, much is required so it's no wonder that her witty personality captivates all audiences from TV to stages and everything in between....all she needs is one mic!
Introduction of Speakers David B. DeLuz is an ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ at Faith Fellowship Community Church, under the spiritual leadership and mentorship of Senior Pastor Rosalee Charley. Min. DeLuz was called to the ministry in 2019, and ordained in 2021 at Faith Fellowship Community Church, where he served as a deacon since 2007. Prior to his service in the ministry, Min. DeLuz served as president of the Sacramento Branch NAACP, and as president and CEO of the Greater Sacramento Urban League, helping to lead the fight for freedom and working to empower our underserved communities and change lives.
Greetings from The City of Sacramento Darrell Steinberg is one of Sacramento’s most accomplished public servants, serving the Sacramento community for over 20 years. Performance Pastor Yardley Griffin Jr. Destiny The Experience Church [email protected] An American gospel musician, urban contemporary gospel recording artist,songwriter, and worship leader. He started his music career, in 2015, with the studio album, Hear Me Now, that was released by Black Market Blue Records. This album was his breakthrough released upon the Billboard magazine charts. He is now the Pastor of Destiny The Experience Church. Services are held Sundays at 9:30am & Wednesday at 6:45pm
Performance Nicole Pearson Is a Sacramento native whose passion for music started as early as the age of 3. Nicole has been directing choirs and leading worship for over 2 decades. She has been blessed to perform with some of the top names in Gospel music such as Dietrick Haddon, Karen Clark Sheard, Hezekiah Walker and many more
