In this issue End of Season round up New Ground New Team Issue 1 May 2020

Welcome to the magazine I have been planning to create a magazine version of the fanzine. The plan was to work on it during the pre- season period. I hope you enjoy this format and look forward to reading your comments. End of season review Well, What can I say about the season-ending so abruptly? Like many of you, I was annoyed and disappointed that the league was brought to a close so quickly, looking back it was the right thing to do given the circumstances of the coronavirus. It doesn`t take away another great season we were having although some performances weren`t what we are used to seeing the team play, at times they dug deep and got results in games when it mattered. The fact we were so close to winning the league in our second season along with 2 cups speaks volumes to show the team is more than just a team tagged by many as YouTubers Devs and his backroom team have done an amazing job this season.

View from the terraces Photo courtesy of Sindy CB This season we saw a lot of changes to the side from last season. Several key players were injured before we got going. The extra training also meant it was hard for players to commit to the rigours of Non-League football with their lives away from football, something that we know is part and parcel of Non-League level in the lower steps. It is fair to say the season could have gone differently but when we needed to we got the results, and then we went on an unbeaten run which also gave us a great run in two of the cups which took us to the semi-final. There were some memorable moments during the season like the late comeback against Sawbridgeworth, the late goal away to Walthamstow and the tense penalties against West Essex in the cup but with the season null and void those moments didn`t happen but we will still keep them in the archives to look back on in the future.

New Home With the season drawing to a premature close, it also drew a close to our stay at Tilbury FC for the time being so we`d like to say a big thank you to Tilbury FC for their hosptality. So it`s goodbye Tilbury FC and Hello Bowers Pitsea FC and the Len Salmon stadium. We look forward to playing there this season. Hashtag United Womens team Spencer Owen put out tweets last year about wanting to get involved in Womens football and was looking to launch a Women`s team and AFC Basildon Women`s who play at Canvey Island FC have not only answered Spencer but are now merging to become Hashtag United Women. They play their matches on Sundays and look to take their football to the next level This season is going to be an exciting one both on and off the pitch.

The fanzine are looking for contributions to the magazine and website. If you would like to contribute with photos or even write a column please get in touch [email protected]
