Message From the PA State Director      2018  CPLC Greetings Sorors, Amicae and Guests,Wow!!!  It is here – 2018 CPLC.  At this time, it is with esteemed pleasure that I officiallyextend an invitation to you to attend the 2018 CPLC at the Chubb Hotel & ConferenceCenter in Lafayette Hill, PA, April 13-14, 2018.   An exciting, unique, fun, engaging andinformative leadership conference has been planned with you in mind! The emphasis forthe conference is “Passing the Torch:  Next Generation of Leaders.” The 2018 CPLC Planning Team, host co-chapters Alpha Alpha Omicron Zeta and GammaAlpha Beta Zeta chapters, have planned their work and are working their plan to ensurethat your needs are met, your experience is memorable and uplifting.  I applaud the Planning Team for their stellar work in planning the conference that willprovide opportunities for personal growth, professional development, networking and adeeper knowledge of the governance of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.  As we continue the countdown to Zeta’s 2020, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’sundergraduates will host the Centennial Torch Soiree on Friday, April 13, 2018, as we“Pass the Torch to the Next Generation of Leaders.\"  In addition, we will also have astamping party. So bring your passport, as you do not want to miss the unveiling of astamp designed by our undergraduates for this auspicious occasion.Saturday, April 14, 2018, the luncheon is a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with a twist. As you areaware, International Grand Basileus Wright has encouraged the sisterhood to host a teaevent for the 2017-2018 sorority year.  This is the time when the State will recognize  chapters/auxiliaries, the Hall of Fame Inductee(s) and award scholarships. We are askingconference attendees to wear royal blue and white and to don a unique and quirky lapel pinof their choice.   

     2018      CPLC Message From the PA State Director continued Prizes will be given to the person(s) with the most unique and bizarre lapel pin.  We will also take this time to love on and honor our Amicae.  The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Amicae will be our guests of honor; therefore, please join me at the MadHatter’s Tea Party, as we thank our Friends for being there with us through thick and thin.  Attending Zeta’s leadership conferences is essential, as it provides an opportunity forattendees to fully be engaged, prepare sorors and Amicae to effectively run theirchapters/auxiliaries, develop leadership skills, and share best practices.  We haveinvested ourselves in a Captivating Phenomenal sisterhood and by attending, we have theopportunity to learn from one another, because we are truly our greatest asset today andtomorrow.  Therefore, throughout this conference, I ask you to #GETEngaged.As I prepare to “Pass the Torch\" to the next State Director, my parting words are asfollows:  the Office of State Director is a job of such magnitude that one cannot do alone.In this seat, you are enormously reliant on a team, your family and most of all, theguidance of God’s Divine and Holy Spirit. Therefore, identify a group of sorors, friends,etc., who will hold you accountable, keep you grounded, not afraid to say \"no\" and whowill check you as needed.  In closing, please allow me to thank each of you for supporting me for the past 6 years, asthis is the last time that I will address the CPLC body as your sitting State Director.  It hasbeen indeed a great honor to serve such Captivating Sorors and Amicae of theCommonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Looking forward to greeting everyone at the 2018 CPLC -April 13-14, 2018.With an humble Servant’s Heart,Barbara10th Pennsylvania State Director

2018      CPLC  Message from the  PA UGMALOn behalf of the Undergraduates of theCommonwealth of Pennsylvania, I would like towelcome you all to the 2018 CPLC! This year is allabout \"Passing the Torch to the Next Generationof Leaders\", and as Undergraduates, that nextgeneration is us!!!!! Lezlie BlairWe are all future leaders of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., but in order to be successfulwe need the help of our graduate sorors as well. We need to build on the foundationlaid by our 5 Founders and continued by our graduate sorors, as we continue thetradition of blazing new paths. Undergraduates, we need to challenge ourselves sothat we may carry on this amazing legacy and keep passing the torch.

2018      CPLC Z-HOPE InitiativeJoin The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as we raise $2,020 for Abington Memorial Hospital -Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  If an unexpected problem should occur, such as prematuredelivery, our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staff is trained in developmental care of pre-term infants. Babies with special needs receive the highest level of care in our Andrew TesauroSpecial Care Nursery. The 34-bed nursery includes a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and ContinuingCare Unit. 2018       CPLC Workshops Overview Friday, April 13, 2018 Membership Intake ProcessMIP Financial, Registered & Non-Certified Zetas Only! This training will review Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s new Membership Intake Process.  Registration is required (complete this step when registering for the conference) and sorors must be financial on all levels and a member of a Pennsylvania Chapter.  Each registered soror will receive a certificate of completion  after signing in, signing out and submitting a MIP Certification Registration Form. Membership Intake - Start 2 FinishMISTFinancial, Registered & Certified Zetas Only! This workshop is interactive and engaging.  Therefore, bring your electronic device. Participants will learn how to effectively execute and implement Zeta's MIP from Start To Finish.  You will learn hot to design flyers for the Informational Interest Meeting/Reception/Presentation; how to develop, create and retain Observation list (including observational activities, etc.), and how to set-up the table for the Introduction and Induction Meetings.

2018       CPLC Workshops continued Friday, April 13, 2018 & Saturday, April 14, 2018Escape Room - Next Generation of LeadersERUndergraduates This workshop will be engaging and interactive as undergraduates learn how to avoidescaping Zeta after graduated college.  In addition, the workshop will focus on howundergraduates \"Pass the Torch to the Next Generation\", as they transition fromundergraduate to life as a Zeta after graduation.They will learn how to become \"The Next Generation of Zeta Leaders\"  post undergraduate.

2018      CPLC Workshops Saturday, April 14, 2018 Training, Knowledge, OutcomesTKOHow to address and resolve conflict!In this corner, we have - this is how we do it and in this corner, we have who is going tocheck me.Let's keep it reel, we have all experienced the stress that comes from having unresolvedconflicts with our co-workers, family, sorors, etc. Conflicts that are let un-checked.ignored and/or resolved poorly, do not go away.  It only causes people to feel resentfuland to avoid each other.  The effects on chapters, the sorority as a whole, are a loss ofproductivity, no show/support at events and retention issues.The referee will blow the whistle and ensure that participants will learn: Conflict is inevitable, unavoidable and even healthy. The existence of conflict is not the problem, but rather how it is chosen to be resolved. How to identify conflicts at chapter meetings, committee meetings, public events, social media communication, board meetings, etc. How to listen to others’ points of view for better understanding and improved work relations. How to express needs and problems openly and honestly without blame, criticism or finger- pointing. How to mediate disputes between chapter members, officers, leaders, etc. Attire: Comfortable Clothing

2018      CPLC MIP Registration Fact SheetThe time-frame to sign-in for the certification is: 12:00 p.m. – 12:50 p.m. (no exceptions) andwill occur during check-in.   Each soror must sign-in between the aforementioned timeframe.The doors will close at 1:00 p.m. Each soror must complete a MIP Registration Form that will be distributed and collectedduring the training.Each soror must sign-in the time and sign-out properly and submitthe MIP Registration Form, in order to be listed in Zeta’s National MIP.Registry.  No exceptions!MIP Manuals will only be issued to non-certified sorors.Certificates will only be issued to sorors who properly sign-in, sign-out and submit a completed, signed and dated MIP RegistrationForm.MIP certification first-time trainees must purchase manual via Memberplanet (on registrationform).Training is for non-certified financial undergraduate and graduate Zetas.Certification is required to participate in any steps of Zeta’s new MIP. NOTE: If a soror received certification training under the new MIP and received a certificate,then she is NOT required to attend.   Attire: College Jersey/Denim Jeans/Heels & Pearls
