Gandhi Jayanti CelebrationS We celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 02/10/19in Bhavans Wise Indian Academy, Ajman. On this occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a special assembly was presented by Grade 4A students.The entire assem- bly was presented in Hindi. Students sang one of the Gandhiji’s favourite song “RAGHU PATI RAGHAV RAJA RAM”. It was followed by a skit on “SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN”. The skit was mainly aimed to make students aware of the importance of cleanliness in their surroundings. At last, the assembly was closed by a power packed dance perfor- mance by the students on the patriotic songs which created a wonderful feeling of patriotism throughout among the teachers and students. STUDENT SOLAR AMBASSADOR WORSHOP 2019 To celebrate the commemoration of 150th anniversary of Gandhi Jayanthi, Student solar ambassador workshop was organized on 2nd Oct 2019 by IIT Bombay. On this day Wise Indian Academy, Ajman participated by providing hands-on training and assembling of solar lamps for 29 students of grade 7. The event started by sensitizing the students on the importance of energy sustainability and energy swaraj. The students were shown videos from IIT Bombay, which gave them an insight into the energy conservation, climate change and need for transition to non-conventional energy sources predominantly Solar energy to meet the energy demand for future generations. Later on, the lamp assembly kits were distributed to the students by Principal ma’am. The students were instructed on how to assemble the kits by the trainers and they enthusiastically worked in the team to assemble their own Solar lamps. It made an incredible sight when the students lit their self-made Solar Lamps and simultaneously spreading the message – Solar is the way forward! Sensitization and participation of students as solar Ambassadors have a critical role to play in the mitigation of climate change. The event ended by students and teachers writing their feedback and taking pledge to be more responsible towards the environment. 3 VIBES

Global Gandhi solar yathra Global Handwashing Day “Cleanliness is godliness” Children from grade 1 and 2 gathered in the activity room on 20-10-19 (Sunday) for attending the speech conducted by Dr. George Jobin Maveli from Metro hospital. Children were very much excited to watch the video that was shown in the session. Children learned di erent ways to keep their hands clean.The video and presentation delineated facts regarding the consequences of not keeping oneself clean. The session conducted by Dr.George Jobin Maveli was lively and enlightening. VIBES 4

There were many activities such as music and dance. Parents created cards along with their wards based on the co ee morning. The creativity and enthusiasm of both parents and students was unexplainable. It was very interesting to see children hosting the entire programme in all classes under the able guidance of teachers. 5 VIBES

As part of the Sharjah Outreach programme, students of Wise Indian Academy were given a chance to visit the Sharjah Autism Centre on Sunday (20.10.2019) at 9.00 am. The trip was organised by the school to raise awareness about autism and other related health issues. A group of 20 students from grades 7 and 8 were accompanied by three teachers to the autism centre. We were given a warm welcome by the supervisors and other sta s at the centre. They gave us an opportunity to meet a group of di erently abled children. Our students had a great time in drawing, painting and performing aerobics along with the di erently abled children. It was indeed a great exposure as well as a great learning experience for our students. This programme truly upholds the value of ‘Sharing is Caring’. More Feathers on Our Cap VIBES 6
