The Value of Life This story is about a teenage woman named Samantha, around the age of 4 her parents divorced, she fears society but mostly herself because of her anxieties, depression and low self-esteem. She currently is 17 years old. She now lives with her Grandparents in Las Vegas, Nevada, whose names are grandma Tilda and grandpa Phil, sadly grandpa Phil passed away around the age 69 due to cancer and because of this incident, one of Samantha’s biggest fears is death and she wishes that she will not succumb to that fate. Samantha was studying at homeschool her whole life. Now Samantha is entering the first day of school. It was her first time to go to an actual school. In the first week she wasn’t able to make much friends, the only friend in her life was Ham, Ham was a teddy bear that she had before the divorce of her parents, Ham was one of the only things that brought comfort to her whenever she’s sad, scared and fearful of others. During break time while she was eating her food, Ham fell out of her bag and one of the students beside her threw Ham all over the cafeteria passing it to other students, eventually Ham got destroyed because of all the throwing the students did. Samantha was in tears seeing her only friend get ripped apart without any hesitation, in a fit of rage she grabbed a small knife and stabbed some of the students who destroyed her teddy bear. After that, she was taken immediately to the principal’s office and was expelled right after. She cried while running back to her grandparent’s house, while running, a school bus full of teenagers threw trash at her while passing by. After all the horrible events she witnessed, she finally got back home and expecting her grandmother to be inside waiting for her. As soon as Samantha walked right through the room where her grandmother is, Samantha found her at the floor, struggling to breathe while reaching the phone to get help. Samantha quickly called the emergency line to get help, while waiting, Samantha’s grandmother said her final words while you, all the way to the end.’ As she said her last words, she let out her last breath before passing away. A few minutes later, the ambulance took her grandmother’s corpse. Samantha took a bus to an abandoned building, went to the roof, and was preparing to jump. When she was about to jump, a man named Jerry saw her, he is at the bottom of the building. He asked her why is she doing it, she replied, ‘I don’t want to be in this cruel world anymore!’ The man calmly replied by saying ‘Before, I was in a similar situation like yours, I also wanted to end it all, and I chose to fight my inner demons, after all the sufferings I have been through, I learned valuable lessons from other who have fought the same battles like us.’ Samantha responded, ‘I have different problems than yours!’ Then the man replied,

‘How are my problems different than yours, we both wanted to end it all?’ Samantha then said, ‘It’s none of your business!’ The conversation lasted for 10 minutes until he finally convinced her to refrain her from jumping. She then backed out from the edge of the building and went out of the building. She told Jerry what happened to her grandmother. After that, Jerry comforted Samantha and he introduced himself to her, then she thanked him for saving his life. Jerry then took her to an orphanage and she met people that will become her best friends. After staying for a few weeks in the orphanage she visited her grandmother’s burial and said, ‘Thank you for taking care of me grandma, you will always be remembered.’ After that, she communicated to people and she improved her self-esteem. After staying for a few months in the orphanage, she got adopted by a very humble family. Her new parents’ names are James and Mary. She went to another school which had welcoming teachers and students. She finally got what she wanted which is to be loved, respected, and cared for. She finally knew the value of life.
