WASHINGTON Washington State is located in the upper northwest region of the United States. As part of the Pacific Northwest, Washington is no stranger to near-constant rainfall and cloudy weather. •The state of Washington is the only state to be named after a United States president. •Starbucks, the biggest coffee chain in the world was founded in Seattle. •Washington state has more glaciers than the other 47 contiguous states combined. •Medina is the home of the United States wealthiest man, Microsoft's Bill Gates.
OREGON Oregon is the 9th largest in the US in terms of land area, but it has a sparsely spread population. Mountain ranges and vast forest areas are just two of the geographical features that have an impact on population density in state. •Oregon's state flag pictures a beaver on its reverse side. It is the only state flag to carry two separate designs. •Oregon has more ghost towns than any other state. •The Columbia River gorge is considered by many to be the best place in the world for windsurfing.
IDAHO Idaho is a very sparsely populated state. The Rocky Mountains dominate much of Idaho’s skyline and the state is also home to sprawling lakes. •In Idaho law forbids a citizen to give another citizen a box of candy that weighs more than 50 pounds. •This satate is famous for potatoes, producing about one-third of the potatoes grown in the United States. •Idaho is sometimes referred to as the Gem State. One can find nearly 72 types of precious stones in the state.
MONTANA Mountain ranges, lakes and national parks all contribute to that figure in a huge area of outstanding natural beauty in Montana. •Montana's name comes from the Spanish word mountain. •In Montana the elk, deer and antelope populations outnumber the humans. •Glacier National Park has 250 lakes within its boundaries. •Butte, Montana is called the “richest hill on planet earth”. This is because of the rich mining history of this city.
NEVADA Nevada is located in a mountainous region that includes vast semiarid grasslands and sandy alkali deserts. It is the most arid state of the country. •There were 16,067 slots in Nevada in 1960. In 1999 Nevada had 205,726 slot machines, one for every 10 residents. •The oldest skeletons of early men ever found in the U.S. were found in Hidden Cave, Nevada, in 1949. •Over 40 million people visit Las Vegas each year •It's illegal to drive a camel on any highway in Nevada.
CALIFORNIA The state is located in the Western United States. Its coast is washed by the waters of the Pacific ocean. In winter there is a lot of rain, and in summer drought and heat prevail. •The first motion picture theater was opened in Los Angeles on April 02, 1902. •California is the home to the Silicon Valley (a region known the world over for high technology, innovation, and venture capital.) •Arnold Schwarzenegger became the governor of California on October 07, 2003. •California is also home to the “giant sequoia” – arguably the largest living organism on earth and the world’s most massive tree.
ARIZONA Arizona is located in the southwestern part of of the US. It has desert climate, summers are exceptionally hot, and winters are mild; however, in north of the state, it has mountain ranges where pine forests found with cooler weather. • Arizona is the largest copper producing state in the Union. This fact is also made evident with the usage of a copper star on the flag of the state. •The state has 13 species of rattlesnakes •The largest Native American Reservation – the Navajo Nation — is found in Arizona. It reserves an area of 17,544,500 acres.
UTAH Utah is located in the western part of the United States. Utah is important tourist place. The state has several national parks with beautiful natural landscapes. •Salt lake-Salt lake is the main attraction of the state of Utah. This place is located near the capital, and is included in the UNESCO list. • In the United States, Utah is the most religious state(60% of residents are believers) •Here polygamy is allowed(multiple wives/husbands) •here are over 2,000 naturally formed arches at the Arches National Park in Utah.
WYOMING Wyoming is located in the central-west part of the US. It is a state in the Mountain region. One of the most famous national park i.e. Yellowstone National Park is located in Wyoming. For the tourism purpose, the state has several landscapes to visit. •The first female governor in American history was elected in Wyoming. •Wyoming has dozens of islands. There are at least 32 named islands in the state •Wyoming is famous for being the first territory that gave its women the right to vote. •Wyoming is not short of cars, buses, and trucks. However, many people here own a horse or two.
NEW MEXICO New Mexico is a mountainous state, the main population of which are Indians and Hispanics. Arid deserts and endless fields are replaced by mighty mountain ranges. Proud impenetrable forests cover the Northern part of the state. •In the state of new Mexico there is a military base of Roswell. Millions of UFO fans come here every year. •The symbol of the state of New Mexico is the red chili pepper, which is found here in large quantities everywhere. •The official flower of the state is the flower of the Yucca plant, its leaves are used to make different ropes.
COLORADO Colorado is located in the central region of the USA. it is recognized as the state with vivid landscapes of mountains, plains, canyons, and mesas. •Almost a quarter of the territory of this state is occupied by national parks. •This state is considered the most \"high- altitude\" in all of America, located above sea level at an altitude of more than two kilometers. •The largest silver ingot in North America was found in Colorado. Its weight is 835 kg. •Colorado is called a \"multicolored\" state, it perfectly combines mountains, dunes, rivers and lakes.
NORTH DAKOTA The state is located in the North Central part of the state. Almost all of North Dakota is on land. The relief is characterized by a large number of plains. The largest waterway is the beautiful Missouri river, also state has a lot of lakes. • The inventor of the camera came from North Dakota. David Henderson invented the camera in 1887. To give it a name, he shuffled the first four letters of the word “Dakota” and then added the letter “K” to make the word “Kodak”. •In 2013, North Dakota overtook Hawaii as the happiest state in the US. •The state has more cattle than people. It has a population of roughly 1.8 million cattle, compared to just about 750,000.
SOUTH DAKOTA South Dakota is located in the Mid-western region of the US. Geographically, Missouri River divides the state into two halves i.e. east and west. These two parts is not only geographically but these are also socially distinct from each other. •The faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln are sculpted into Mount Rushmore the world's greatest mountain carving. •Clark is the Potato Capital of South Dakota. Clark is home to the world famous Mashed Potato Wrestling contest. •South Dakota adopted the honey bee as the state insect in 1978 •Here It is illegal to lie down and fall asleep in a cheese factory.
NEBRASKA Nebraska is located in the central part of the US. It is one of the leading farming and ranching states of the US. •The Lied Jungle located in Omaha is the world's largest indoor rain forest. •The 911 system of emergency communications, now used nationwide, was developed and first used in Lincoln, Nebraska. •The largest porch swing in the world is located in Hebron, Nebraska and it can sit 25 adults. •State has more miles of river than any other state.
MINNESOTA Minnesota is located in the northern side of USA. the state is located in the western prairies region; it is very fertile and suitable for agriculture. •Interestingly, Minnesota is more popularly known as 'Land of 10,000 Lakes’ and the state name is derived from a Dakota word which means sky-tinted water. •The state of Minnesota ranks first when it comes to the percentage of residents who exercise regularly. •The state is home to the world’s largest pelican, which was erected at base of of the Mill Pond dam. •The gopher state has some of the oldest rocks found on earth that were formed about 3.6 billion years ago.
IOWA Iowa is located in almost central north region of the country. It’s a fiberglass statue.
